The minutes of the meeting of March 21, 1939 were read and upon motion made by Councilman Bartlett, seconded by Councilman King, were approved as read. By vote the motion was declared CARRIED. Cash, Eotary Fee and P .O .Box Rent .50 D .E.Swann, Telephone Mar. 26 to Apt. 26 Police Calls , Daytona and DeLand 3.46 New Smyrna Daily Yews , Ad. :especial Masters Sale 12.00 E .E.Boyce, Sheriff, Service T . of E. vs. White et. al. 1.85 Councilman Bartlett moved that the bills be approved, paid, made a part of the minutes and that the Town discontiue paying one half of the telephone where now located , seconded by Councilman King, and by vote declared .CARRIED. REPORTS OF OFFICERS . Mayor Adams reported on the condition of the Streets recently worked. The Clerks report on Budget Appropriations and a Cash Statement for the period March 1 to r:pril3, 1939 were read. Councilman Bartlett moved that these reports be accepted and made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman King, and by vote declared CARRIED. REPORTS OF COMNITTEES . Councilman King reported that he had made progress but was not ready to make a complete report on the costs envolved in the collection by the Town of garbage. He will continue to serve and report at the next meeting. UNFINISHED BUSINESS . Mayor Adams announced that a communication sent Marshall T .A.Swann and deliver ed to him on March 21, 1939 remained unanswered, that his leave of absence had expired and that therefore the office of Town Marshall was vacant , as he also had relieved Acting Marshall Bender of any duties after April 3, 1939. * 'NNW, Nord Minutes of April 4, 1939 . NEW BUSINESS . Attorney Fuller presented the minutes of the special meeting of March 24, 1939 whereupon Councilman Bartlett moved that these minutes be approved as read , seconded by Councilman King, and by vote deckired CARRIED . Councilman King moved that_, if possible, the Clerk c011ect and list all the property of the Town of Edgewater which was in charge of the former Marshall seconded by Councilman artlett, and by vote declared :TARRIED. Councilman King verbally presented his resignation as Councilman to take effect immediately. Councilman Bartlett moved that the resignation of Councilman :=i.ng be accepted seconded by Councilman Adams , and a roll call resulted as follows; Councilman Adams. Yes . Councilman Bartlett. Yes. Councilman King. Not Voting. The Mayor declared the motion CARRIED. The Mayor then announced that he would appoint Ilorace King as Town Marshall effective April 4, 1939. By unanimous consent ,the Clerk was requested to write a letter of recommend_ ation for M.Mr•Mack Marbin,Jr. who had well served the Town of Edgewater as a Laborer for the past three years at different times. This letter to be signei by the two members of Council and the Clerk. Councilman Bartlett moved that we do now adjourn,seconded by Councilman Adams and by vote declared CARRIED. Time 3:40 P .M.
