04-25-1939 - Special .. r �. oe .I� r • ,,,.,r,,, - SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA HELD IN V.I .A. HALL ON APRIL 25, 1939. Meeting called to order at 7:30 P .P . by Mayor Councilman Ralph Adams. ROLL CALL. MAYOR Councilman Ralph Adams . Present. Councilman C .D,Bartlett. Present. Clerk. alter C.Fuller. Present. Attorney Herbert Fuller. Present. Marshall Horace King. Present. NOTICE OF MEETING. The Clerk read the following; " Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Edgewater, Florida will meet at the V.I .A. Hall in said Town on Tuesday, the 25th day of April, A.D. 1939 , at 7:30 o' clock P .M. of said day, for the purpose of receiving petitions of candidates for the office of Town Councilman. Notice is further given that said 25th day of April, 1939 , will be the last day upon which petitions to have candidates' names printed on the ballot at the special election in said town on May 16th 1939 , will be received." A Resolution entitled " A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A CLERK AND THREE INSPECTORS OF ELECTION FOR THE SPECIAL TO WN ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE TOWTv OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, ON TUESDAY THE SIXTEENTH DAY OF MAY, A.D . , 1939. " was read in full. `:.hereupon Councilman Bartlett moved the adoption of the resolution , seconded by Councilman Adams , the motion catried the vote of the Council being as follows: Mayor Councilman Ralph Adams . Yes. Councilman C .D.Bartlett. Yes. The Clerk announced that he had received the petitions of Leon Mcllvene and F.R.Renwick and each petition had been checked and was signed by twenty-five qualified electirs. The Clerk read each petition. Councilman Bartlett moved that the names of Leon :Mcllvene and F.R.Renwick be placed on the Ballot , seconded by Councilman Adams. It then developed that :r. Leon Mcllvene was not a Freeholder in the Town of Edgewater, and therefore did not possess the qualifications required for a Town Councilman. By the consent of the maker and the second of the motion this motion was withdrawn. Whereupon Councilman Bartlett moved that the name of F.R.Renwick be placed on the ballot as a candidate for Town Councilman to fill the unexpired term of Horace King, seconded by Councilman Adams , and by vote declared CARRIED. The Clerk was instructed to notify the persons appointed on the Election Board and to have 500 Official Ballots printed.
