REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, HELD IN V.I .A.HALL JUNE 6th, 1939.
Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Councilman Ralph Adams.

READING OF MINUTES.
The minutes of the Special meeting of May 29, 1939 were read and it was
moved by Councilman Bartlett, seconded by Councilman Renwick, that %hese
minutes be approved as read; by vote the motion was declared CARRIED.
RESOLUTION.
A Resolution entitled " A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE TOWN COUNCILOR THE
TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, DULY AND LEGALLY CONSTITUTED AND ORGANIZED
UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF LAW APPLICABLE THERETO" was read in full.
Councilman Renwick moved the adoption of the Resolution, seconded by
Councilman Bartlett, and passed the vote of the Council being as follows;
Mayor Councilman Ralph Adams. Yes.
Councilman C.D.Bartlett. Yes.
Councilman F.R.Renwick. Yes.

Minutes of Meeting of June 6,1939
Councilman Bartlett moved that the Bills be made a part of the minutes, that ,
they be approved and paid, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote
the motion was declared unanimously CARRIED.
Councilman Renwick moved that the amount of $100.00 allowed the Clerk be in
lieu of any fees he would have earned on the Properties listed under the
Foreclosure Suit, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared
unannimously CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORTS.

The Cleric/his *CASH STATEMENT" and " A STATEMENT OF BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS"
for the period May 1, 1939 to May 31, 1939.
Councilman Renwick moved that these reports be approved and be made a part
of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Bartlett, and by vote declared CARRIED
Marshall King reported as follows;
Trees on The Strand near Buckeye Cottage were hanging over the road and
should be removed.
Work on repairs to Town Dock was progressing.
The Drainage Ditch from Park Ave. to the Canal should be cleaned.
Lines should be painted on the Highway at Park Ave. in order to enforce the
regulations for the Traffic Light.
The list of CALL MEN for the Ftre Dept. should be revised.
Attorney Gillespie reported it was his opinion that a Vice-Mayor Councilman
could be elected if Council required.

uN21NIS'KED BUSINESS.
The Clerk by unanimous consent was requested to procure sealed bids for
cleaning out the drainage ditches from Park Ave. to the Canal and the
ditch along the South Line of Lot 23 G.Alvarez Grants these bids to be
opened at the meeting of Council on June 20, 1939.
Councilman Renwick moved that the Marshall be authorized to have lines 6"
wide painted on the Dixie Highway at Park Ave. , one across at the North
line of Park Ave., another 5* North of the first line, this arrangement
of lines to be also located at the South line of Park Ave., color of lines
to be Orange, seconded by Councilman Bartlett, and by vote declared CARRIED
Councilman Renwick moved that the office of Fire Chief be declared vacant,
seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote decaared CARRIED.
Councilman Renwick moved that Marshall Horace King be appointed Fire Chief,
seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Renwick moved that the office of Assistant Fire Chief be declared
vacant, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Renwick moved that Robert E.Fuller be appointed Assistant Fire
Chief, Seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Renwick moved that A.M.Gibson, H.G.Smith, Wallace Lance,
J.R.Wood, Ira Graham, Ned Massey,
Ray Ballatyne, J.S.Bates, C .T.King,Jr. ,
Kay Lofton, H.P.Wilkinson, Wm. J.Deasy.
be approved as Call Men for the Fire Department, seconded by Councilman
Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.

NEW BUSINESS.
Councilman Renwick moved that the Marshall inspect all.the bridges in
reference to floors and that he have the necessary work done to put them in
good condition, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARBL D
Councilman Renwick moved that Council contribute the sum of Seventy-five
Dollars toward the promotion of a Fourth of July Barbecue or Old Fashioned
Picnic for the people of Edgewater, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by
vote declared unanimously CARRIED.
Councilman Renwick moved that the Clerk be authorized to have provided at
Scheitle's Filling Station, located at Ridgewood Ave. and Sanchez Ave. , a
suitable Town Bulletin Board, tha cost of which is not to exceed $4.00,
seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Renwick moved that the Town furnish the Clerk a telephone at his
house and that the Town pay one half of the telephone in the Marshall's
house, it being understood that no Long Distance Tolls would be paid except
those made in the interest of the Town, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and
by vote declared CARRIED.
MISS CELLANEO US.
By unanimous consent the Attorney was instructed to draw an ordinance for
Council's consideration relative to the keeping of hogs in Edgewater. After
considerable discussion as to locations to be restricted it was decided to
make a requirement that a permit for the keeping of hogs be obtained f5 om
Council.
Councilman Bartlett moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. Timm 10:05 P.M.
