The minutes of the meeting of June 6, 1939 were read and Councilman Bartlett moved that they be accepted as read, seconded by Councilman Renwick, and by vote declared CARRIED. BIT.TS AND ACCOUNTS. REPORTS OF 02FiCERS. The Clerk reported having posted notices for bids to be received for cleaning Ditches and that five healed bids had been received. The Marshall had no report. ORDINANCES . Ordinance No. 79 entitled " AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE KEEPING OF SWINE IN THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF." was read in full, upon its first reading. Councilman Renwick moved that Ordinance No. 79 as read be passed upon its first reading, seconded by Councilman Bartlett, and by vote declared unan- imously CARRIED. UNFI NI SHED BUSINESS. A Resolution Relative to additional compensation of the Town Marshall in reference to the arrest and conviction of persons for the crimes of larceny, et caitera was introduced by being read in full. Councilman Renwick moved the adoption of the resolution, seconded by Council- man Bartlett, and passed the vote of the Council being as follows; Mayor Councilman Ralph Adams. Yes. Councilman C.D.Bartlett. Yes. Councilman F.R.Renwick. Yes. A copy of the resolution is attached and forms a part of these minutes. Councilman Renwick moved that the Marshall be instructed and authorized to have Perry Chapman bring his wrecker crane to Edgewater and move three stumps now along the Strand South of Orange Ave. to some dump nearby. , the cost for the service not to exceed 42.00, seconded by Counci1m, i Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED. The Sealed Bids for the cleaning of the Ditches were then opened and found to be as follows; Colon McLane. 915.00 William McLane $24.50 Paul Brewer 435.00 J.J.Lofton 490.00 Kay Lofton 4120.00 Councilman Bartlett moved that the cleaning of ditches be let to the lowest bidder according to specifications and that the work to be done at a time when ditches are free from water, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared unanimously CARRIED. NEW BUSINESS. Councilman Ren wick reported that the road at Ridgewood and Palmway was badly washed and needed filling. By unanimous consent the Marshall was instructed to have refuse brick hauled to fill in street. Councilman Renwick called Council's attention to the committee that had been appointed to fix prices on lands to be sold by the Town acquired under fore- closure proceedings. He was of the opinion that Council as a whole should fix these prices and by unanimous consent it was so ordered. The Clerk was instructed to write the County Tax Assessor in reference to the County assessments on lots 4-R, N.80' of 4-Q and N.30' of 4-S as these lots were being used by the Town of Edgewater for Municipal purposes. Councilman Renwick moved that the Marshall be paid $10.00 per month during the months of June , July,August and September for extra patrol duty during these months on account of the large number of vacant houses. This amount to be in addition to his regular salary, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED. Councilman Bartlett moved that the Town purchase two shell forks, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. Councilman Bartlett moved that the Town purchase the Florida East Coast R.R. Edgewater Depot Building at a cost of 450.00 or less as may be determined by Mayor Adams after a conference with the R.R. Officials , it being understood that the Citzens Committee will tear the building down and remove the lumber from the R.R. property, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote Declared unanimously CARRIED. AN ORDINANCE REGJLATING THE KEEPING OF SWINE IN THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND PRE- SCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION TLIEREOF. BE IT OADALTED BY TEE TOWN COUNCIL OF TEE --20";,IN OF EDGEdATER, FLORIDA:- Section 1. The keeping of hogs or swine within the car- . porte limits of the Town of Edgewater, Florida, except as herein otherwise permitted and provided for, be and the same is hereby declared to be a public nuisance. Section 2. No hogs or swine shall hereafter be kept or maintained within the corporate limits of the Town of Edge- water, Volasia County, Florida , without a permit first had and obtained from the ?own Council of the Town of Edgewater, Florida; and such permit shall only be issued by said Town Council after investigation by it as to the number of hogs or wine proposed to be kept and maintained, the location of the proposed pen or place for keeping and maintaining said i'ocs or swine and its distance from yells or other sources of drinking water supply, and from dwellings or other buildings, and after a finding by said Town Council that the same will not be dangerous to the health of the citizens of the said Town of Edgewater, Florida. Section 3.
