SPECIAL CALKED MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA HELD IN V. I. A. HALL ON JUNE 30th, 1939.
Meeting called to order at 7:30 P .M. by Mayor Councilman Ralph Adams.

OBJECT OF MEETING.
The call for the meeting was read as follows;
By order of the Mayor a special meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Edgewater, Florida, has been called for Friday, June 30, 1939 at 7:30
P.M. , for the purpose of appointing a deputy Marshall in the absence of
Marshall King, the method of handling the Mayors duties during his absence
from July 1st to July 15th and regulations relating to closing the Post
Office at night."
The Mayor appointed R.C.Baker as ViceMarshall to act under the Mayors
direction during the absence of the Marshall and asked That Council
confirm the appointment.
`:hereupon Councilman Bartlett moved that the appointment of R.C.Baker be
confirmed, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared unanimously
CARRIED.
The Mayor requested that Council elect a Vice-Mayor to act in his absence
from the Town during the period July 1 to 15, 1939; Councilman Bartlett
was of the opinion that the eall for the meeting would not permit the
election to be held at this meeting. No nominations were made and no
action taken.
The Mayor stated that it had been reported to him that the light in the
Post Office had been out and that the door had not been locked at times.
The Marshal stated that since his appointment in April that the door had
been locked every night with the exception of three nights and that it
was opened by the paper boy at 5 A.M. and left open
The Mayor stated that the Marshall should on his last round close the door
'ock it and leave the light burning.
By unanimous consent the Mayor and the Marshall were to have a conference
with the Post Mistress as to regulations to be followed and to the respon-
ibillit$es involved.
Councilman Bartlett moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. Tinie 8:55 p.m.
