07-19-1939 - Tax Equalization Board MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA AS A BOARD OF EQUILIZATION HELD IN V.I .A. HALL ON JULY 19 1939. Meeting called to order at 7:32 P .M. by MayarCouncii man Ralph Adams. ROLL CALL. Mayor Councilman Ralph Adams. Present. Councilman C.D.Bartlett. Present. Councilman F.R.Renwick. Present. Clerk. Walter C.Fuller.Present. Attorney J.U.Gillespie. Present. Marshall Horace King. Present . The purpose of the meeting was read as follows; " Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Edgewater, Florida, will meet with the Town Clerk of Said Town and sit as an Equil- ization Board at the Council Chamber in the V.I .A. Hall, Edgewater, Florida, on Wednesday the 19th day of July, A.D.1939 , at the hour of 7:30 P.M. of said day for the purpose of hearing complaints and receiving testimony as to the value of any property real or personal as fixed by the Town Clerk of said sown, acting as Assessor thereof, and for the purpose of perfecting, reviewing and equalizing the said assessment, and that said Council will continue in session far that purpose as long as shall be necessary, and for hearing appeals for Homestead Exemptions. Notice is -. further given that further meetings of said Council for the purposes above stated Twill be held on Monday the 7th day of August, A.D. 1939 , and on Monday the 4th day of September, A.D. 1939, at said V.I .A. Hall, Edgeawter, Florida, and at the hour of 7:30 P .M. , and that said Council will adjourn from day to day thereafter as long as shall be necessary to hear and -_.-' consider all matters coming before it as said Board of Equilization." The Clerk presented the Assessment Roll for the Year 1939. COMMUNICATIONS. Letters were read from the following; Florida East Coast Railway, Tax Dept. , dated Feb. 17, 1939. , in reference to valuation of Lot 35 BB G.Alvarez Grant. Model Land Co. , T.B .Bennett tax Agent, dated Jan. 5th, 1939. , in reference to valuation of Lot 41, G.Alvarez Grant. Mr. P.B .Dick, dated June 7th, 1939 in refence to valuation on Dixwood Sub. of Lot 6 Sheppard and Sanchez Grant. Mr. A.J.Graves , dated Dec.27, 1938 in reference to valuation of lots 23 to 28 Inca. of. Mendalls H.P . or Homestead. Tax Returns werereceived from the following; American Telephone and Telegraph Company. Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company. American Oil Company, Gulf Oil Corporation. The Texas Company. Councilman Renwick moved that the adjustments made and shown on the Assessment Roll by the Tax Assessor be and the same are hereby approved, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED. Councilman Renwick moved that we do now adjourn to meet Monday August 7th, 1939 at the hour of 7:30 P .M. , seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
