MINUTES OF ORGANIZATION MEETING OF THE TOWN COU^TCIL OF Tr.E
TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA HELD IN THE V.I .A. HALL ON NOVE''dBER 7 , 1939.
Meeting was called to order by the Clerk at 8:02 P. M.
ROLL CALL.
Councilman C. D. Bartlett. Present
Councilman P. R. Renwick. Present
Councilman W. T. Goodyear. Present
Clerk Walter C. Fuller. Present
Attorney J. U. Gillespie. Present
Marshall Horace King. Present
Whereupon the Clerk road the "Oath of Office" as subscribed to by W. T.
Goodyear to serve as Councilman for the Term of three years and the "Oath
of Office" as subscribed to by Walter C.Fuller to serve as Town Clerk for
a term of one year. The Clerk also read his certificate that W. T. Goodyear
and Walter.C. Fuller had received the highest number of votes cast for the
office of Councilman and Town Clerk Vespectively.
Whereupon Council canvased the election returns and found them in proper
order -and declared W.T. Goodyear and 'Walter C. Fuller duly qualified and
elected,Town Councilman and Town Clerk respectively.
Councilman Renwick moved that the Clerk act as Temporary Chairman, seconded
by Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED .
The Temporary Chairman stated that nominations were in order for a Council-
man to serve as Mayor.
Councilman Renwick nominated Councilman Goodyear, Councilman Goodyear
nominated Councilman Renwick. There being no further nominations ballots
were distributed, the votes collected and canvased by the Clerk. The result
was

W.T. Goodyear 1 Council man Renwick was declared elected
Mayor Councilman.
Nominations were declared in order for the office of Vice-Mayor Councilman
W.T. Goodyear was nominated and there being no further nomination Council-
• man Renwick moved that the Clerk cast one ballot for W.T. Goodyear for the
office of Vice-Mayor Councilman, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by
vote declared CARRIED.
The vote was cast and W. T. Goodyear declared dlected.
At this time Mayor Renwick took the Chair.
A Resolution entitled. "A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE ANNUAL
ELECTION HELD IN THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, ON THE 7TH DAY OF NOVEMBER
A.D . 1939 : AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE'S OP ELECTION TO are&
THE RESPECTIVE TOWN OFFICERS ELECTED AT SAID ELECTION." was read in full by
the Clerk.
Councilman Bartlett moved the adoption of the resolution, seconded by Council
-man Goodyear, and passed the vote of the Council being as follows;
Mayor Councilman F. R. Renwick Yes.
Councilman C. D. Bartlett Yes.
Councilman !: . T. Goodyear Yes.

OF EDGEWATER, FIORDIA, DULY AND LEGALLY CONSTITUTED AND ORGANIZED UNDER
THE PROVISIONS OF LAW APPLICABLE THERETO ." was read in full by the Clerk.
Councilman Goodyear moved the adoption of the resolution, seconded by Council-
man Bartlett , and passed the vote of the Council being as follows;

OOFICERS REPORTS .
Tht Clerk read his Cash Statement and Statement of Budget Appropriations
for the period October 1 to October 31, 1939.
Councilman Bartlett moved that these reports be approved and made a part of
these minutes , seconded by Counccilhan Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED
NE!♦` BUSINESS .
Councilman Bartlett moved that the Clerk' s Bond be fixed in the sum of
$3000.00 , that Small' s Insurance Agency supply the bond at a cost of $30.00
for which premium the Clerk is authorized to issue a warrant, seconded by
Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED.
A resolution entitled " A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE OFFICIAL BANK
DEPOSITORY OF THE TOWN OF EDGE: ATER, FLORIDA, AND DIRECTING SAID DEPOSITORY
TO HONOR THE SIGNATURES OF TEE TOWN CLERK AND MAYOR ON ALL CHECKS OF SAID
TOWN." was read in full by the Clerk.
Councilman Bartlett moved the adoption of the resolution, seconded by Council-
man Goodyear and passed the vote of the Council being as follows ;

The Mayor announced that he appointed Horace King as Marshall for the en-
sueing year and asked Council' s confirmation.
Councilman Goodyear. _moved'-"that the appoin*meat by the Mayor of Horace King
as Town Marshall be approved and confirmed , seconded by Councilman Bartlett
and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the Fire Department as organized at present
be continued for the ensueing year, seconded by Councilman Goodyear and by
vote declared CARRIED.
By unanimous consent the Marshal was authorized to have culvert pipes from
the County hauled to the Town Lot for .storage until ordered used.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the Mayor be authorized to have the Strand
Road graded and dragged whenever he deemed it necessary and a proper time
to do work but that all other road work should be authorized by Council
except emergency work to cost not to exceed $10.00 , seconded by Council-
pan Goodyear and by vote declared unanimously CARRIED.
Councilman Bartlett moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
