Meeting called to order at 7:32 P .M. by Mayor Councilman F.R.Renwick.

READING OF MI UTES .
The minutes of the regular meeting of- '{ebruary 6 , 1940 were read by the
Clerk ' hereupon Councilman Bartlett moved that they be approved as read ,
seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote dcelared CARRIED .
BILLS AND ACCOUNTS .
The following Bills were read;

councilman Bartlett moved that the Bills be paid as read and be made a
part of the minutes , seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared
CARRIED.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS .
The Mayor had no report.
The Clerk reported as follows:
The bids received for cleaning the ditches were, lied Massey $59.00
C.T.King, Jr. $92.00
Ira Gramham $40.00
The Bids for Painting Road Signs were, Brewer Art Service $19.00
E.R.Mills , $26.00
That the Sale of Lots 7, 9, 10 and 11, Block B, Section 3, Highland Shores
Sub. to Charles McCormick under Contract to Purchase had been Completed
by the signing of the Contract and the payment of :; 100.00 on the Delivery
of the Contract ( Copy) to Mr. McCormick, all in accordance with the
authority given by Council.
The Attorney reported as follows:
That the Resolution vacating the Dick Sub. of Lot 6 Sheppard and Sanchez
Grantwas not ready due to a delay in obtaining some information.
That the matter of settlement for Oranges picked from Town Owned property
was as yet uncompleted.
That the matter of obtaining Bridge Maximum Loads was incomplete.
That the requirements of enacting a Zoning Ordinance were many including
the appointing of a commission for holding public hearings as to the
limits of the Zones and their location. The Attorney read the Law made and
provided for proceedure to be followed.
No action was taken it being agreed that this matter would be further
considered when Councilman Goodyear was present.
The Marshall reported that the Bridge had been repaired, the warning sign
repaired and the Dump Signs placed as ordered by Council.

COMMUNICATIONS .
A letter was read from P .B .Dick wherein he gave Mr. T.C .Brown the use of
his property and the small office building on Ridgewood Ave.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS .
The Marshall reported that he had measured the road at the H.H.Hatch pro-
perty and found that some of the Shell removed was from the road and some
from Mr. Hatch' s property. No action was taken on Mr. Hatch' s bill as
Councilman Bartlett was to see Mr. 'Match.
The Marshall reported that on Lamont Street there were 8 trees on the North
side of the roadway and 3 on the South side of the roadway which should be
removed. No action taken.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the work of cleaning the ditches in accordance
with the specifications dated February 12, 1940 and which formed a request
for bids , be given to Ira Grar,•Rh.am at his bid of $40.00 , to be paid$20.00
when work is 50% complete and the balance when work is approved by Council,
work to start when ditch is dry, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote
declared CARRIED.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the work of painting and lettering two large
and nine small road signs be given to Brewer Art Service for their bid of
$19.00 providing they will use non fading red and give the South large sign
a extra heavy coat of white , seconded by Councilman Rewick and by vote d
declared CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the Clerk issue permits for the keeping of
Bees to Mrs. C.T .King, 6 Hives on Lot 16 East of F.E .C . Right of Way,
Sheppard and Sanchez Grant and to Rufus E. Johnson, 12 Hives on Lots 7 , 8 ,
9 and 10 Hawks Park Sub. of G.Alvarez Grant , seconded by Councilman Renwick
and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Clerk reported that a list of "Electric Street Lights and location in
use on February 10th, 1940 " had been compiled by the Marshall and the Clerk
Mid requested that this list be made a part of the minutes of this meeting.
It was so ordered.
The Marshall suggested that a direction sign be placed at the Strand and
Hamilton Drive. to direct those back to the Highway who by reason of diking
a wrong turn in New Smyrna drove South on Riverside Drive. The Clerk was
instructed to write to Hon. James A.Perkins , Member of the State H'way
Commission to request that a right turn sign be placed on Riverside Drive in
New Smyrna at the North side of the Canal Bridge by the Highway Dept.
aSSCETJ.i,ANOUS BUSINESS .
The Clerk was instructed to post a Proclamnation concerning the observance
of Washington' s Birthday on the Town Bulletin Board at the Post Office.
Councilman Bartlett moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED . Time 9:20 P .M.

MOTICE.
Sealed bids will be received by the Town Council of
the Town of Edgewater, :Florida, up to 7:45 P . M. on
February 20, x940, for the following work;
uleaning of Drainage Ditch from Park Ave. to the
South Canal and cleaning of Drainage Ditch from Old
County Road running East along the South Line of the
't .C.Euller property to the Ditch running North to the
uanal.
Both Ditches to have the rough stuff cleaned out of
the bottoms , the sides to be cut down and cleaned of
vegation, the bottoms leveled off where necessary to
pirvvide a proper flow 4 the banks on each side to be
cleaned two (V ) feet back from the ditch and all vegation
and refuse to be thrown well back on the banks of the
ditches.
bids to provide for the supplying of all labor, tools
and materials necessary to do the work and bid should ;
state the lump sum price for performing the work in
accordance with the above specifications and to the
approval of the Town uouncil.
The Town uouncil reserves the right to reject any or all
bids.
