READING OF MINUTES.
The minutes of the meeting off' February 20, 1940 wtee read whereupon
Councilman Bartlett moved that they be approved as read, seconded by
Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED .

Councilman Bartlett moved that the Bills be approved as read, be paid
and be made a part of these minutes , seconded by Councilman Goodyear
and by vote declared CARRIED.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS .
The Mayor had no report.
The Attorney reported as follows; In the matter of Oranges picked from
Town Property that He had the matter up with Morris Ashton, In the matter
of vacation of Dixwood Sub. he had the description of property up with
Robert Fee , In the matter of Maximum loads on Bridges in Edgewater that he
had the matter up with Mx Ferris Civil Engineer. These bridges were located
1 on Knapp Ave. 1 on Highland Ave. , 1 on Oakridge Ave. , 1 on Ocean Ave. ,
and 3 on Park Ave.
The Clerk read a report on Budget :Appropriations and a Cash Statement
covering the period February 1 to February 29, 1940.
Councilman Goodyear moved that these reports be accepted and be made a part
of these minutes , seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared
CARRIED.
The Marshall reported as follows ; that the Brewer Art Service Co. had
completed the painting of the road Signs , that the Cleaning of the drainage
Ditches was i#Spectd on March 4 and a few things found were corrected ,
that material had been located to build the permanent benches in
recreation building, that therl,ofing of Recreation building by Grant Gonyeau
had been completed.

ORDINANCES .
Attorney Gillespie reported on the proceedure necessary to enact a Zoning
Ordinance and after a discussion of the requirements the Attorney was
requested to prepare an Ordinance with blanks left for the names of the
members of the Commission and their compensation and to submit the
Ordinance at the next meeting of Council. It was agreed that eadh member
of Council would submit t'Wo names and that three members constituting
the Commissionwould be selected.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS .
After a discussion on the bill of H.H.Hatch for 40 yards of shell amount-
ing to $20.00 , it was moved by Councilman Goodyear, seconded by Council-
man Bartlett , that H.H.Hatch be paid for 3 yards of shell @ 50% per yard
a total of $4.00 in full settlement of his bill, by vote the motion was
declared CARRIED.
In the matter of removing trees on Lamont Street it was agreed that the
Mayor and the Marshall would mark the trees to be removed and that the
other members of Council could then check them and decide whether it
met with their approval.
Council requested the Clerk to write the State Road Department at DeLand
and request inforruation as to the minimum height at which the Traffic
Light at Ridgewood and Park Ave. could be placed.
Councilman Goodyear moved that Grant Gonyeau be employed to board up the
gable ends of the Recreation Building with vertically placed boards , the
joints to be covered with moulding now on hand, labor and material not to
exceed X17.00, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Marshall was requestedtQ ,,see , certain •owners-- of dogs in Edgewater.,_
The Marshall was requested to obtain bids for the cleaning of the follow-
ing lots , Yelcka Terr. Sub. , Lots 1 and 2 Blocks A and B , and Lots 4 and
5, Block 1, Hatt Sub.
During a discussion on the treatment of roads in Edgewater by scraping,
then rolling and oiling, it was suggested that a chemical was used in
the treatment of the surface. Yr. Gonyeau who was present offered to
obtain the trade name and the cost.
NEW BUSI1ESS .
Councilman_ Goodyear moved that the Clerk be authorized to buy the Marshall
a new Police Hat , seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by Vote declared
CARRIED .
Councilman Battlett moved that the Clerk issue to C .C.=roodward a permit to
keep Bees in accordance with his application, seconded by Councilman
Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Bartlett moved that we do adjourn, seconded by Councilman Good-
year and by vote declared. CARRIED . Time 9: 56 P . F.
