REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA HELD IN V.I .A. HALL
ON MARCH 19 , 1940.
Meeting called to order at 7:30 P .M. by :Mayor Councilman F.R.Renwick.

Councilman Bartlett who came in after the Roll Call was counted as present
by the consent of the other members od Council.
READING OF MINUTES .
The clerk read the minutes of the meeting of March 5, 1940 whereupon
Councilman Goodyear moved that they be approved as read , seconded by
Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
BILLS AND ACCOUNTS .
The following bills were read;

Councilman Goodyear moved that the bills be approved , made a part of the
minutes and paid as read, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote
declared CARRIED.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS .
The Clerk reported that Mr. Hoffman specfied,on his application for a permit
to keep bees , that the location was on lot 12 of Knapp Sub.
Mayor Renwick reported that the trees on Lamont St. for removal had been
marked by cutting the outside.
M'r. G.E.Bailey resident on Lamont St. accorded the privelge oaf the floor
expressed his opinion that those trees dangerous to traffic should be
removed.
Council requested the Clerk to obtain bids for the removal of 12 Trees and
have sealed bids by the next meeting, by motion made by Councilman Good- ,
year, seconded by Councilman?anrrby vote declared CARRIED. "`'"
Marshall King reported that he had obtained prices as given below for the
cleaning of Lots 1 and 2 , Blocks A and B, Yelcka Terrace Sub. andLots 4 and
5, Block 1, Hart Sub. ,

Councilman Bartlett moved that the contract be awarded to Charles Skipper
at his bid of $12.00 , seconded by Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared
CARRIED.
Minutes of Meeting of Mza.rch 19 , 1940.
Attorney reported that he would have the desciption of Dixwood Sub. by the
next meeting and that he would have the information on bridges.
COMMUNICATIONS .
A letter dated March 8th, 1940 was read from `a .M.Colby requesting the
shelling of the balance of Sutton Place if the property owners grubbed
out the right of way. Action defered until next meeting of Council.
ORDINANCES .
Ordinance No. 86 entitled " AN ORDINANCE CREATING A ZONING COMMISSION IN
THE TON OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, PRESCRBING ITS POWERS AND DUTIES AND PRO-
VIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHVNT OF BUILDING RESTRICTIONS IN SAID TOWN. " was
read in full.
Councilman Goodyear moved that Ordinance No. 86 be passed upon first read-
ing, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the requirement of second reading be waived
and that the Ordinance be placed upon final passage, seconded by Council-
man Goodyear and by vote declared unanimously CARRIED.
Whereupon Ordinance No. 86 was passed and adopted the vote of the Council
being as follows;
Mayor Councilman. P.R.Renwick. Yes.
Councilman. C .D.Bartlett. Yes.
Councilman. ':;.!.Goodyear. Yes.
The Clerk was requested to notify Er. E.A.Lembeck, H.L.Hauhton and T.C.
Brown of their appointment as members of the :coning Commission.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS .
The Clerk reported that Mr. T .C .Brown had completed and finished his con-
tract to purchase by making the final payment.
Councilman Goodyear moved that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign
a deed conveying Lot 2 , Block A, Sec. 2, Highland Shores Sub. to T .C.Brown,
seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the $5.00 deposit for a 30 Day Option on
Lot 5, Knapp sub. be accepted and that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to
sign a deed upon the payment of $70.00 during the 30 day period from the
19th day of March after which period the deposit is to forfeited, seconded
by Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED.
An offer of $100.00 for Lots 6 and 7 Edgewater Highlands SUB . from E .D.Mosely
was rejected and Council decided that ; 150.00 was the least that could be
accepted.
CouncilmanBartlett moved that the application of Herbert Hoffman to keep
100 Hives of Bees on Lot 12, Knapp Sub. be granted and that the Clerk issue
a permit for one year, seconded by Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared
CARRI ED.
NEW BUSINESS .
It was suggested that a sign on the Recreation Building that it was for the
use of the Public would be appropriate. The awarding of any order for the
painting of the building was defered.
Councilman Goodyear moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED. Time 9:04
