Meeting called to order at 7 :30 P .M. by Mayor Councilman P.R.-Zenwick.

READING OF MINUTES .
The minutes of the meeting of March 19, 1940 were read whereupon Council-
man Goodyear moved that they be accepted as read, seconded by Councilman
Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED.

Councilman Goodyear moved that these bills as read be approved, paid and
be made a part of the minutes , seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote
declared CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORTS .
The Clerk read a report on receipts and disbursements and a report on
Budget Appropriations for the month of March. Councilman Goodyear moved
that these reports be approved and be made a part of these minutes,
seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Clerk read a report on the condition and the need for some new Street
Signs at Street intersections. After a discussion any action was defered
until action was taken on a change of name for the Strand.
The Clerk reported that he had received two sealed bids for removing trees
from Lamont Street , whereupon these were opened and considered. The bids
are attached and form a part of these minutes.
Councilman Goodyear moved that the contract for removing 12 Trees from
Lamont Street be awarded to Mr. J.J.Lofton at his bid of ;15.00 with the
understanding that he would be reponsible for any damage done to wires or
Telephone cables in the removal of these trees , seconded by COuncilman
Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Marshall reported that at present there were no Hives of Bees located
on River Front Lots. That the party who could supply shell for Street^
wanted an agreement that the town would buy 1000 Yards, and after a dis-
cussion action was defered.

Minutes of the meeting of April 2 , 1940.
The Attorney reported that the Citrus Exchange didnot know how many loxes of
fruit picked belonged to the Town. He was advised that there were 13 Field
Boxes which amount he willadvise Mr. Allen.
He further advised that the Zoning Commission had met twice and that they
expected soon to hold a public hearing. Also that the Commission needed a
map of the Town.
A fur was report as made that John C .Perris would make a complete survey of
the Town' s Bridges giving safe weights they would carry and a report on the
work to done for repairs to carry these weghts , for the sum of $35.00.
The Attorney suggested tabling the matter of vacation of Dixwood Sub. until
the owner submitted the necessary flat.
Councilman Goodyear moved that Council authorize John C.Ferris to make a
survey of the Bridges in the Town and to report on the work and materials
necessary to put them in good condition and the proper weight loads they
each can carry after the repairing is completed , the cd;st of this :Werk_-.to

C01M=CATI ONS .
Aletter was read from H.A.Durden, Project Endineer, Fifth Division, State
Road Department , dated March 29th, 1940, giving a minimum clearance on all
Traffic Control Devises as 14 feet 6 inches.
A letter from Charles ti' .Rowsam, Pres . of Board , Edgewater Church wasread.
The Letter dated Mar. 27, 1940 thanked Council for the lumber donated.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS .
Council requested the Clerk to order for the Zoning Commission a map of the
from the tracing on file, the cost not to exceed $ .00.

After a discussion of the merits of the present Traffic light it was agreed
to have the light lowered to 14Foot 6 inches and try it out for effectiveness
in controllthng trffic.
NEW BUSINESS .
Councilman Renwick moved that we offer the use of the Council Chamber to the
County Commissioners as a voting place for the primary election to be held
on May 7 , 1940 , s @oonded by Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED.
It was agreed that the Mayor would notify the Commissioners, of this offer.
Councilman Goodyear moved that the Clerk be given permission to Attend the
the Short Course for Municipal Finance Officers at Gainesville, Florida, on
April 8 and 9 , 1940 , that the Clerks Office be Closed on Monday April 8th,
and that his expenses be paid not to exceed an amount of :;;8.00 , seconded by
Councilman Renwick and by vote declared. CARRIED.
Councilman Goodyear moved that the Clerk be authorized to issue a permit to
keep two hogs On Lot 23, at rear of Lot, Sheppard and Sanchez Grant to
'Alliam McLane , seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Goodyear moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. Time 8: 55 P .M.
