Meeting called to order at 7:32 P .M. by Mayor Councilman F.R.Renwick.

READING OF MINUTES .
The minutes of the meeting of April 2 , 1940 were read whereupon Councilman
Goodyear moved that they be approved as read, seconded by Councilman
Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED.

Councilman Goodyear moved that the bills be approved , paid as read and be
made a part of these minutes , seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote
declared CARRIED.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS .
The Clerk reported having a verbal request from .J.Bigelow for a list
of Lots in Highland Shores Sub. on which lots the Town had acquired
title through foreclosure. Council authorized the Clerk to send this
list to Yr. Bigelow.
The Clerk reported the Sale of Lot 24 Edgewater Highlands ,pub. to Russell
W. and Hazel M.Miller at the authorized price of 050.00
The Marshall reported that the traffic light had been lowered to 14' -8"
clearance from- the roadwayand that there were 90% stopped during the day
and 100% at night.
That the Petition for change of name on the river roadnow had about 33% of
the property owners. It was decided by Council to hold the petition until
October 1940 and to further consider it.
tiie5 The Marshall further reported that Wildwood Ave. bridge was unsafe for
traffic and that was the reason for leaving the brush uncut. He suggested
that the owner of Lot 16 sneppard and Sanchez Grant be allowed to cross
city owned lots to reach the rear end of his property in order to haul out
vegetables. Council agreed to allow truck to go over city owned lots to
reach Highland Ave.
Attorney Gillespie read the report of John C . Ferris and R.S .Blinn on their
survey of seven bridges in the Town of Edgewater.
Councilman Goodyear moved that the report covering bridge survey be accepted
seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED .

Minutes of Meeting of April 16,1940.
COMMUNICATIONS .
L . R.S .Fee spoke on behalf of the Mosquito Control Board and gave a brief
survey if the work being done. He asked the co-operation of the Town of
Edgewater by rendering such small services as would be required . One such
service would be the obtaining of easements for drainage ditches as might
be required.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS .
Councilman Bartlett moved that the Recreation Building be painted at a cost
not to exceed $20.00 total for Labor and Material., the Clerk to make the
necessary arrangements , seconded by Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared
CARRIED.
The Clerk was instructed to again write 'W.M.Colby about the cleaning of Lots
2,3 and 4 Colby and Jepson Sub.
The Clerk reported on the proceedings of the Municipal Finance Officers
Short Course held at Gainesville on April 8th and 9th 1940 ,
NEW BUSINESS .
Councilman Goodyear moved that permission be granted J.J.Banmgartner to cut
down and remove three trees in frint of Lot 401 Hawks Park Land Co. Sub. at
the corner of the Highway and Ocean Ave, it being understood that permission
must also be obtained from the State Highway Department, seconded by Council
man Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Clerk was instructed to request Mr. A.B .Farnsworth to have his lots nos.
217, 218 and 219 Hawks Park Land Co . Sub. cleaned.
Councilman Goodyear moved that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign a
Deed for Lot 24, Edgewater Highlands Sub. conveying this lot to Russell W.
and Hazel M.Miller for the consideration of $50.00 , seconded by Councilman
Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.
EISSCELLANEOUS BUSINESS.
Councilman Goodyear moved that J.U.Gillespie be re-employed as Town Attorney
for the year May 1, 1940 to May 1, 1941 at a salary of $ 250.00 payable : 100.
as a retainer Fee and .$150.00 payable in four equal installments , 437.50 on
May 1, August 1, November 1, and February 1, 1941, seconded by Councilman
Bartlett and by vote declared unanimously CARRIED.
Councilman Goodyear moved that the Clerk be authorized to pay the retainer
fee of $100. as of April 16th, seconded by Councilman Bartlett and by vote
declared CARRIED.
Councilman Goodyear moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED. Time 10:23 P.1.
