The minutes of the meeting of July 2, 1940 were read whereupon Councilman Bartlett moved that they be approved as read, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. OFFICERS REPORTS. The Marshal reported that;. C.A.Holland had hauled and spread 100 yards of sheti., on the Strand. The Fire Siren had been cleaned out and now operalzed all right. Abid had been made by R.F.yilliams of 45.00 for painting the Fire Siren. Councilman Bartlett moved that the Fire siren be painted for a sum not to exceed ”5.00 and that a screen be made a nd installed for a sum not to exceed 42.00, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. The Marshal further reported that102 houses were vacant and that the warning Load Signs had been placed at the bridges on Park Ave. 0 � T \rte NOW/ e.-inutes of meeting of July 16, 1940 , Page 2. CO U1'TICATIONS. The Clerk read a letter from J.H.Dowling, State Highway Engineer, dated July 11, 1940 in reply to letter written James 1. .Perkins, Chairman State Highway Commission. Attorney Gillespie reported that he had talked with Mr. Perkins and that he had been advised that the Town could send a representative to the Commission' s next meeting if they so desired. ORDINANCES. Attorney Gillespie read in full an ordinance relating to the Business or occupation of distributing advertising circulars to automobiles passing along the Highway. `r. C.y:r.Smith, attorney.*representing _ r. F.C.Cory, was given the privilege of the floor and spoke at lenght in support of issuing more than one license at any one intersection. Mayor Renwick had previously reported that he had disapproved the license application of -3: r. P.C.Cory. Council agreed to defer any action until the next meeting of council to be held on August 6, 1940. UNPIi'1I SH 41) BUSINESS. The attendance of the Fire Call Men at Eleventh Annual Florida State Fire College to be held in Daytona Beach on July 22 to 26th was discussed and it was agreed that gasoline for one or two cars would be supplied, and a 50% lunch and the regular 1.00 fee for each day for each of the call men attend- ing. Councilman Bartlett moved that the Clerk issue separate checks to pay for the shell as follows , C.A.Holland, 66 yards at 4,1.00 and 34 cards at 01..35, R.J.Sheldon, 66 yards at 35 cents, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. Council insjtructed C.A.Holland to haul 100 yards of shell and place on the Strand near Hatches property and also on the side streets , Councilman Bartlet to inspect the placing of the shell, and more i nece ° ARY i The ua.yor reported that he had had a great many speak about the Fourth of July Celebration and that he believed that it was a decided success and had been good advertising for Edgewater. He further stated that he desired to thank the General Chairmen Mr. Bailey and all the others who helped. NEW BUSINESS . Mr. Charles Skipper complained about numerous dogs on the Old County Road which were a nuisance. After a discussion the matter was refered to the Marshall.
