REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA, HELD EN V.I.A. HALL OAT,- SEPTEMBER 17 , 1040.
Meeting called to order at 7:30 P .M. by Mayor Counciman F.R.Renwick.

READING OF MINUTES .
The minutes of the meeting of September 3, 1940 were read whereupon
Councilman Goodyear moved that they be approved as read, seconded by
Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRIED.

Councilman Bartlett moved that the bills be approved, paid as read, and
be made a part of these minutes, seconded by Councilman Goodyear and by
vote declared CARRIED.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS .
The Clerk reported that the Deed from Robert Houston to the Town of Edge-
water for Lots 12 Block C. and 28 Block D. , Sec . 1, Highland Shores Sub. _
had been delivered -61 him and that the deeds for Lots 13,14 and 15, :Sec. El
Highland Shores had been delivered tor. Houston.
The Clerk reported a list of 10 Street Intersections at which the 10 Posts
now on hand could be used. A copy of the List is attached to these minutes.
The Clerk reported having had a call from I .Vialter Hawkins , County Clerk in
reference to the Town co-operating with the county in placing back on the
Tax Roll Lands acquired by the Sate under the Murphy Act. It was suggested
that some means be found whereby the Town could reduce the Taxes and
Costs on these Lands acquired by the State so that when sold by the State
the Purchaser would know before Advertising the amount which would have to
paid to the Town. The .titter was refered to the Attorney for a further
investigation and report.
The Marshall reported a request from Mr. Stahnecker for the removal of 2
Palms , 1 Live and 1 otter Oak trees from the eilkinson Street right of way.
It was decided that the Town would remove the Oaks if Er. Stahnecker would
remove the Palms. All trees to be removed below the ground surface.
The Marshall reported that a bridge on Oakridgeeve. was in need of Repairs.
and that the tractor usually used on road work was not in condition to use.
The Marshall was instructed to repair the Bridge and look for another
Tractor.
Tice Mayor reported some stumps on Live Oak Street were dangerous to traffic
and the i!;:larshall was instructed to have same removed.

ORDINANCES .
Ordinance NO. 89 entitled " AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE BUSIitESS OR e
OCCUPATION OF DISTRIBUTING HAND BILLS OR ADVERTISING LITERATURE ON THE
STREETS AND HIGHrA7S OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND PRESCRIBING
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. " was read in full a sceond time
after a motion made by Councilman Goodyear, seconded by Councilman
Bartlett that Ordinance Rio. 89 be put upon final passage. This motion by
vote was declared unanimously CARRIED.
Councilman Bartlett moved the adoption of the Ordinance No. 89 , seconded
by Councilman Goodyear and adopted the vote of the Council being as follow;;
Mayor Councilman. F.R.Renwick. Yes.
Councilman•e .D.Bartlett. Yes.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Councilman Goodyear moved that a street Light be installed at the corner
of Lamont Street and Hubbell Street effective October 1, 1940 , seconded
by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRINyD. Councilman Bartlett not
voting.
NEW BUSINTESS.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the :iayor and the Clerk be and they are
hereby authorized to surrender to the Bank ofew Smyrna Certificate of
Deposit No.7 of date Oct. 1,1939 and maturing Sept. 30th, 1940 of a face
value of 4800.00 and procure therefore a Certificate of Deposit for ed000.00
the difference of 4200.00 being made up as follows;
Permanent improvement Fund Checking Account :.,;31.96
Interest on Certificate of Deposit iio. 7 16.00
Draw from Special Delinquent Tax Fund. 152.o4
Total ,200.00
and the Certificate of Deposit for x;1000.00 shall be dated October 1, 1940
and matmre September 30th, 1941 and the .layor and Clerk are authorized to
make this transfer of Funds , sceonded by Councilman Goodyear and by vote
declared unanimously CARRIED.
Councilman Goodyear moved that the balance on hand at the end of the _Fiscal
Year ending Sept. 30th, 1940 in the Special Delinquent Tax Fund beallocated
to and continued in this fund during the Fiscal Year October 1, 1940 to
September 30th, 1941 for the purposes stated in the Resolution passed
September 20th, 1938 establishing this Special Delinquent Fund,secondcd by
Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared unanimously Ck.RRI_ED.
Councilman Bartlett moved that the unexpended balance in the Street Account
of the Budget Appropriations be set up as a reserve to be expended on the
streets during the month of October 1940 in the annual Clean up of etreete ,
as it is not deemed wise to do this work during the month of eeptember or -
before the end of the present Fiscal Year and obt^in the best results ,
seconded by councilman Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Goodyear removed taht the unexpended balance in the Lot Cleaning
Account at the and of the Fiscal Year be set up as a reserve for Lot Cleaning
during the Fiscal Year October 1, 1940 to September 30th, 1941, seconded by
Councilman Bartlett and by vote declared CARRfl T).
Councilman Bartlett moved that Pentland and Robertson be employed to audit
the Town' s Books for the Fiecal Year ending Sept. 30th, 1940 at a cost not
to exceed the sum. of < 60.00 , seconded by Councilman Gooyear and by vote
declared CARRIED.
