The minutes of the meeting of January 21, 1941 were read whereupon Council- man Goodyear moved that they be approved as read, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS . Cash., 010.71 Southern Bell Telephone Co . , 0 2.66 Horace King, Marshalls Phone. 4 2. 55 William Grffin, Labor v 3.20 Councilman Goodyear moved that the bills be approved, paid and be made a part of these minutes , seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. REPORTS OF OFFICERS . The Clerk read a Cash .Statement and a budget Appropriations Statement for the month of January. Councilman Goodyear moved that these reports be approved and be made a pert of these minutes , seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. The Clerk ferther reported that the Southern Bell Telephone Co . had laid a cable underground along the East side of Ridgewood Ave. from the alley ' South of ';:ilkerson Street to Now Hampshire Ave. and hence Last along New Hampshire Ave. to the Strand, that he had confered with r. L.Larb in ref- erence to a work permit and obtained from him a copy of print showing locat ion of cable on Ridgewood Ave. and on New Hampshire Ave. Councilman Goodyear moved that the Clerk's action be approved and that the print be filed in the Plat Book, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. The Clerk reported that Lots 9 , block D, Yelcka Terr. Sub„ 9 , 10 and 11, block 2, Snider Spencer Sub. needed cleaning on account of a possible fire hazard and he was instructed to write the Owners for their co-operation in having their properties cleaned , Mr. T.C .brown reported having used the power scythe for Four and one quarter hours for private work. Also that stumps on roads ordered removed .ork had been completed. Suggested a sign on the South ';;est corner of Hamilton Drive and the Strand to direct Traffic back to u .S . lo. 1. Council ordered the segn made and placed. Marshall King reported that the Foster Ditch Cleaning had been done but that it was not wide enough. Mayor Renwick reported that the Marshall had made an arrest for Driving while Drunk and that the case had been turned over to the Justice of the Peace Court. ti `44411Ple fi010e ..,r✓ ;minutes of February 4, 1941. Mr. George Gunthrop reported on acti.vies at the recreation center. RESOLUTIONS . Attorney Gillespie read a Resolution establishing a U3PECIAL FORECLOSED PROPERTY FUND." This was discussed and changes suggested with action defer ed until the next meeting. The Attorney was requested to prepare an Ordinance regarding use of Streets by Telephone and Telegraph Companies , the digging of ditches or placing of Poles and the necessary requirements as to permits before any work is done. The Mayor excused Attorney Gillespie from further attendance at this time. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Mayor Renwick advised Council that he was ready to mark trees on Highway dangerous to traffic as soon as Mr. D.G.McBride could come to Edgewater. The Marshall had no report on the cost to Glean the East end of `, i1kinson Street. he was requested to see Kay Lofton as to the time squired for this work. NEW BUSINESS . The Clerk reported that an offer had been received,for the purchase frot the Town of Lots 16, 17 and 18 , Block A, Sec.3, highland Shores Sub. , from Mr. George E .Lear in the sum of ;„200.00. Mr. Lear being present spoke in explaination of his offer. Council defered action until the views of Council man Southard could be obtained as the offer was less than the price set. The Mayor vas to advise the Clark so that he could advise 1, r. Lear. At this time Ar. Smith Saie:msn for indian Fire Extinguishers was introduced and accorded the privilege .of the floor. he spoke at lenght on the merits and use of "Indians" but Council defered action. Price each was quoted at 424.50. Councilman Goodyear Moved that the " South 1/3 of Lots 4,5 and 6, Block B, Sec.3, idghland Shores Sub. be sold to D . .Settle at a prise of 420.00 under a contract to purchase of standard form, seconded by Councilman Renwic_<:_ and by vote declared CARRIED. councilman Goodyear moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman enwick and by vote declared CARRIED.
