The minutes of the meeting of April 1st, 1941 were read whereupon Councilman Southard moved that they be approved as read, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. Cash. 1.10 Salaries: F.R.Renmiek 2.00 .T .Goodyear. 1.00 0 .E.Southard. 2.00 Walter C,Fuller. 50.00 Horace King. 40.00 Joseph Hewitt , Gasoline for Transportion of Children 4.00 J.S .Batell , Gas , oil, grease and Fire Call. 2. 54 City of New Smyrna Beach, Recharging Fire Extinguisher. 1.50 Councilman Southard moved that these bills be approved, paid and be made a partbof the minutes, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. OFFICERS REPORTS. The Mayor reported that Councilman Goodyear, Marshall King had attended with him, the Organization Meeting of the State Defense Council of the Fifth Congressional District held in Orlando on Monday Afternoon April 14th. Attorney Fuller reported that an appearance had been filed on Rule Day April 7th, 1941 in the case of Lofton vs. Town of Edgewater. The Clerk reported on a number of replies to the Town's Letter requesting co—operation of the property owners in the removal of Advertising Signs. He was requested to locate the signs and report at the next meeting. He also reported that J.M.Stevens had or would complete the payments on his contract to purcha_.e before the next meeting. The Marshall reported that the Old County Road had been inspected and that it could be fixed by filling up the ruts T.C .Brown reported that he had repaired the roadway of Park Ave. at the first bridge West of the F.E.C. Railroad, also that there was a traffic hazard at Park Place and Park Ave. due to the heavy growth of bushes and small trees on Lots at this corner. That he had been unable to work April 8th to 11th Incl. on account of an injury. Minutes of April 15th, 1941. Page 2. ORDINANCES . A Resolution designating certain descibed trees to be removed from Ridgewood Ave. and the repairing of certain approaches to Ridgewood Ave. was read in full. Councilman Southard moved the adoption of the Resolution, seconded by Council- man Renwick and adopted the vote of the Council being as follows; Mayor Councilman. F.R.Renwick. Yes. Councilman. W.T .Goodyear. Absent. Councilman. 0.:E .Southard. Yes. A copy of the resolution is attached and forms a part of these minutes . UNFINISHED BUSINESS. It was decided that no action would be taken on the Zoning Commission' s Report until the first meeting in September. After a discussion of repairs to the Old County Road South of Park Ave. , the Marshall was requested to investigate the condition of the culvert under Park Ave. at the Old County Road. He was to continue his investigation as to the removal of the old fish market at the South end of the strand. The Marshall was requested to investigate the condition of the drainage ditch North from Park Ave. to ascertain if it was blocked at any point North of the G.V.Smith property which blockage would prevent or stop the flow of the water NEW BUSINESS . Councilman Southard moved that the Mayor and the Clerk be and they are hereby authorized to sign a deed conveying Lots 35 E to 35 L, Inclusive and those parts of lots 35 M to 35 T Inclusive which are South of the F.E.C. Right of .ay to J.M.Stevens when he has completed his final payment on a contract to purchase, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. The question of a Sanitary Code to conform with the State Board of Health requirements was refered to Attorney Fuller for a digest of the ACT. G.O .Gunthrop reported that he was in search of a suitable baseball ground and it was suggested that the Marshall and he investigate the property at the corner of Park and Flaggler Ayes. ( Nortwest Corner.) Councilman Southard reported that a number of Citzens objected to the J.P . Officer following the School Bus thru Edgewater each day as they thought that Edgewater would get all the blame for this condition. .F.fter a discussion the Mayor was to see what could be done. Councilman Southard moved that four (4) Fire Fighter Extinguishers be pur- chased at a cost not to exceed $17.00 each, that a $20.00 down payment be made and that the balance be paid in eight months, sceonded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED.
