Meeting called to order at 7:30 P .M. by Mayor Councilman F.R.Renwick. ROLL CALL. Mayor Councilman. R.R.Renwick. Present. Councilman. W.T.Goodyear. Absent. Councilman. 0.E.Southard. Present. Clerk. Walter C .Fuller. Present. Acting Attorney. Herbert Fuller. Present. Marshall. Horace King. Present. READING OF MINUTES . The minutes of the meeting of May 6 , 1941 were read whereupon Councilman Southard moved that they be approved as read, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. BILLS MD ACCOUNTS . The following bills were read; T .C.Brown, 5 days Labor and Truck on East End of New Hampshire Ave. P23.05 New Smyrna Abstract. Company, $25.00 Salaries; F.R.Renwick 2.00 0 .E.Southard, 2.00 Horace King, $40.00 falter C.Fuller, $50 .00 Clerks Miss. Cash, 1.28 Councilman Southard moved that the bills be approved , paid as read and be made a part of the minutes , seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declar- ed CARRIED. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. The layor reported; Aletter dated May 7th written to J.U.Gillespie in reference withdrawnal of Edgewater support on including the Strand in the Volusia . County Highway Bill and a reply dated May 9 , 1941. A letter dated May 7th written P .L.Gladdis, Supt. , F.E .C .Railwa.y Co. in reference culverts under Okeechobee Branch and his reply of May 9, 1941. On the delivery of Six Indian Fire Fighters except two pumps to be re- placed. On the hole left in Sanchez Ave. and running on to the Hinckley Property Owners repreaeatative agreed with Council that if the hole was filled up and graded the same as the East End of the Street it would be satis- factory. The Marshall reported; That the Strand end of the Foster Ditch on the East end of the Lutz property was closed up. That the road Scrapper was being painted. Council requested the Clerk to write to Mr. D.F.Thomas of the State Road Dept. in reference to the Foster Ditch. It was also reported that one shack at the end of the Strand had been removed. T .C.Brown reported that he had completed the work at the East end of New Hamp- shire Ave. Council excused the Marshall from attendance at meetings of Council to be held on May 20th, June 3rd and 17th so that he could attend a course in First Aid. • t y `.:inutes of May 20 , 1941. Page 2. REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES . The committee on removal of tree from Lot 5, Bl. P. , Sec.2, Highland Shores Sub. reported that the owner had made arrangements and that the dead tree had been removed. ORDINANCES . Ordinance No. 97 entitled " AN ORDINANCE REUIRING PERMITS TO BE OBTAINED 'ROT THE T0WN CLERK PRIOR TO THE CONSTRUCTION OR ALTERATION OF ANY SEPTIC TANK FOR SEWERAGE DISPOSAL, Id THE TOWN OF EDGE;ATER, FLORIDA; AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPLICATION FOR AND COST OF SUCH PERMIT; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE . " was read in full. After a discussion several changes were made and the Attorney was requested to make the corrections and submit at the next meeting of Council. UNFINISHED BUSINESS . The Clerk made a report on removal of Advertising Signs and action was held over until next meeting of Council. A complaint was received about the present condition of the John r.Christen- son property on the Strand between Hamilton Drive and Sanchez Ave. as being a Fire Hazard. The Clerk was instructed to write the owner and ask him to have his lots cleaned. The Clerk was also instructed to write to D.F.Thomas, Maintainance Engineer and obtain permission for the Town of Edgewater Signs on the State Road right of way. NEW BUSINESS . COUNCILMAN Southard moved that T .C .Brown be employed for not over one day to haul sand and fill up the hole at the east end of Sanchez Ave. , seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. Councilman Southard moved that the application of J.J.Lofton to keep two hogs on his property on Flagler Ave. be grantedand that a permit be issued to expire on September 30th, 1941, seconded by Councilman Renwick and by vote declared CARRIED. It had been reported that the roof of the V.I .A. Hall leaked in several places and Yr. Grant Gonyeau being present save Council the cost of a new roof as folowa; 40 squares of roofing, Galvanized interlocking sheets; 22 squares of galvanized zahtal shingles for sides of dorners , approximate cost of material $225.00 and approximate cost of labor $75.00.
