The minutes of the meeting of June 17 , 1941 were read, whereupon Councilman Southard moved taht they be approved as read, seconded by Councilman Good- year and by vote declared CARRIED. BILLS S AND ACCOUNTS . Cash. 2.25 Councilman Southard moved that the bills be approved, paid as read and be made a part of the minutes , seconded by Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED. OFFICERS REPORTS . Mayor Renwick reported the receipt of an invitation from J.Franklin Miller Chairman, New Smyrna Beach Chapter American Red Cross to attend the dedica- tion program of the First Aid Station at Coronado Beach to be held July 3 at three o' clock. He also reported that rye had inspected the ditches during the heavy rains and that he had ordered the Marshall to safeguard traffic by repairing and sandbaging the bridges. Mr. W.D.Arnett being present asked about the Foster Ditch and he was advised that until a right of way was provided thru the Lutz property nothing could be done about cleaning out widening or deepening this ditch. Further as soon as the Maintence Engineer of the State Road Department could come to Edge- water for a conference this matter would be discussed. The Mayor reported the receipt of a letter of appreciation from J.U.Gillespie for the resolution passed by Council. The Marshall reported that the limbs of trees on the Strand had been cut as ordered by Council. That there was a broken window on the West side of the hall at the North end. He also reported on the conditions of the Foster Ditch at the Strand end as being drained only by a pipe which ran into the culvert under the road. After a discussion of roads the Marshall WW1 ordered to grade the Strand and Park Ave. before the Fourth. Right of Way Contracts were given the Marshall to see the Edgewater Property Owners,whose property abutted or was on each side of the two drainage ditcheq, to obtain their consent and signature. The Clerk read his Cash Report and a Statement of Budget Appropriations for the period of June 1st to 29th. Councilman Southard moved that these reports be approved and be made a part of the minutes , seconded by Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED. The Clerk read a Notice of the times and days of the meetings to be held by the Board of Equalization and stated that this Notice had been posted as required by Law. A copy is attached and forms a part of these minutes. Minutes of July 1, 1941. Page 14 The Clerk reported that he had received a complaint from Mr. McIlvene and Mr. Scott about the water from Park Ave. and Park Place flowing on their properties from Park Ave. The Clerk further reported and presented a " CLERKS ESTIMATE OF REVENUE OTHER THAN FROM TAXES LEVIED FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINING OCTOBER 1st ,1941 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30th, 1942." This report was received and ordered made a part of the minutes of this meeting. A copy is attached. COMMUNICATIONS. A letter dated June 21, 1941 was read from Hubert A.Price expressing his appreciation of the resolution passed by Council. \Sail -.were Minutes of July 1, 1941 Page 2. REPORTS OF SPECIAL COWV TTFF,S. The Clerk reported for the committee on Sign Elimination that 14 signs had already been removed and that owners of others had been notified to remove them after the property owner had given his consent. ORDINANCES . A Resolution entitled " RELATING TO THE COMPROMISE, SETTLEMENT AND ADJUST- MENT OF DELINQUENT TAXES AND PROVIDING THE BATS THEREFORE." was raed in full. After a considerable discussion and a study of comparisions provided by the Clerk it was decided that a uniform rate of 25% of the total amount of taxes should be fixed. Councilman Goodyear moved the adoption of the Resolution, seconded by Council- man Renwick and adopted the roll call vote being as follows; Mayor Councilman. F.R.Renwick. Yes. Councilman. A Resolution rescinding a part of a resolution passed by Council on April 15th, 1941 relating to the removal of certain designated trees on the High- way, was reed in full. Councilman Goodyear moved the adoption of the resolution, seconded by Council- man Southard and adopted the roll call vote being as follows; Mayor Councilman. P.R.Renwick. Yes. Councilman. W.T .Goodyear. Yes. Councilman. O .E .Soutnard. Yes. A copy of the Resolution is attached and forms a part of these minutes. A copy of the resolution was ordered sent to the Sate Highway Department. UNFINISHED BUSINESS . Attorney Gillespie was requested to write the Comptroller in reference to the amount of Taxes on Lot 35 HS Ass' rs Sub. of G.Alvarez Grant. Councilman Southard moVect that a Permit be issued for Pauline Vallario to build a bulkhead in front of her Property on the Strand which property is designated as Lot 6, Ass' rs Sub. of G.Alvarez Grant, seconded by Councilman Goodyear and by vote declared CARRIED. NEW BUSINESS . The Clerk presented the 1941 Tax Assessment Roll to the Town Council. Councilman Goodyear moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED.
