96-R-22 "'-" "f1I1' RESOLUTION NO. 96-R-22 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE COMBINING OF BERT FISH MEDICAL CENTER AND HALIFAX MEDICAL CENTER TO PROVIDE A JOINT COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE SYSTEM TO SERVE VOLUSIA COUNTY; REPEALING RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Bert Fish Medical Center and Halifax Medical Center's governing board and administration have proposed combining the two hospitals into a single community health care unit plan; and WHEREAS, the combining of these two health care facilities and services will provide the elimination of duplication of services and more cost effective and efficient delivery of health services in the most economical means available to this area of volusia County; and WHEREAS, residents and the public will be better served by the combining of these services and plans; and WHEREAS, the City Council of Edgewater, Florida, had the opportunity to receive information and listen to the proposed plan; and WHEREAS, it is in the interest of residents of Edgewater, as well as this entire area of Volusia County, to have the best, most efficient and economical plan available; and WHEREAS, the City Council of Edgewater supports and strongly urges the governing boards and any other appropriate public agencies to support and approve this proposed plan. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida: Section 1. The City Council of Edgewater expresses these comments of strong support to provide optimum health care services to the public. 96-R-22 1 Section 2. All resolutions or parts of resolution in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
