06-25-1998 '. '-" ..""" CITYOFEDGEWATER ANIMAL CONTROL BOARD June 25,1998 7:00 P.M. CITY HALL MINUTES ROLL CALUCALL TO ORDER Chairperson, Robin Hendricks called the regular meeting to order at 7:07 p.m in City Hall. Members present were: Robin Hendricks, Donna Wagner, Liz Scarvarda, Dr. Vanis, and Bob Schmitt. Also present were Animal Control Supervisor Robin Feger, JoAnn Richard Board Secretary and Legal Assistant, Robin W o]f APPROVAL OF MINUTES Liz Scarvarda made a motion with second by Donna Wagner to approve the May 21, 1998 minutes. Motion to approve was carried 5-0. OLD BUSINESS Robin Wolfprovided copies of the new State Statutes relating to Animal Control. She explained that before the Board could make any changes they would have to compare the new Statute to the City's Ordinance and that she hadn't had time to compare them yet. Robin Hendricks suggested that the Board Members take the new Statute home and review it so that it could be discussed at the next meeting. Robin Wolf reviewed some of the changes to the Ordinance suggested by Robin Hendricks and explained that any changes to the Ordinance, ie. definitions, etc. needed to be voted on and until that time would be considered "Proposed Changes". She suggested that all items be tabled until the Board has had a chance to review the new Statute. During discussion regarding items for review, it was suggested that the clause "without provocation" be emphasized in the definition "aggressive animal". Robin Wolf informed the Board, that you should not emphasize the phrase, but suggested the definition of "provocation" be included in the Ordinance. NEW BUSINESS Robin Hendricks informed the Board that she was receiving phone calls from volunteers offering to help with small anlmal~ during the wildfires ravaging our area. Robin Feger advised her that she was working on the "Disaster l7eparedness Program" and/or animal shelter for Edgewater. The Board agreed to meet again Thursday, July 23, 1998 and at least two more monthly meetings before meeting quarterly. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, Bob Schmitt moved to adjourn, Second by Liz Scarvarda.
