07-17-2002 .." ...., CITY OF EDGEWATER ANIMAL CONTROL BOARD luly 17, 2002 7:00 P.M. CITY HALL CONFERENCE ROOM MINUTES CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting was called to order by Chairperson, Donna Wagner, at 7:05 PM in the City Hall Conference Room. ROLL CALL Members present were: Donna Wagner, Liz Scarvarda, Debrah Brazzell, and Kimberly Catalo. Also present were: Legal Assistant Robin Matusick, Animal Control Officer David Castetter, Captain Jill Danigel, Mark Johnson, Silvan McElroy, Karen Mason, and Board Secretary Sue Griffiths. Members absent were: Dr. D. Vanis APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion made to approve the minutes of the April 17, 2002 meeting by Debbie Brazzell, seconded by Liz Scavarda. Motion held unanimous. NEW BUSINESS Pet Societv Inc. Donna Wagner stated that on Monday July 15, 2002 there was a presentation made at the City Council Meeting by Karen Mason from the Pet Society Inc. due to the recent problem with the Southeast Vol usia Humane Society the city is having. Donna Wagner welcomed Karen Mason to the meeting. Karen Mason presented the proposal to the board members as it was presented at the City Council Meeting. No discussion about the proposal was held. Southeast Vo.usia Humane Societv Donna Wagner stated that since the recent problems with the Southeast Volusia Humane Society she resigned from her position on their board. In addition, "-" ..., inquired with Captain Jill Danigel as to the progress of the City of Edgewater(s Kennel. Captain Jill Danigel stated that a site was located and construction will soon start. Captain Danigel also informed the board members of the loss of an animal control position coming this October due to budget constrictions occurring in the City of Edgewater. OLD BUSINESS Number of Animals Donna Wagner stated that the board members needed to review ordinances and be ready with suggestions for the next meeting. Donna Wagner stated that areas to review would be animal definition, exotic animals, and pet store inspections. MISCELLANEOUS Toraue Robin Matusick advised the Board Members that on June 21st, 2002 Torque's owner went to court which resulted in the owner deciding to comply with the City of Edgewater's Dangerous Dog regulations. Animal Control David Castetter stated that at this time the owners have started to comply with the requirements and will keep the board updated as to any non compliance. Animal Nealect Case Robin Matusick stated that at this time the animals are still be cared for by the Animal Control department and that when the City of Edgewater goes to court she will be delivering a motion to the Judge with all expenses incurred by the City of Edgewater for the Judge's review. ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Donna Wagner, seconded by Liz Scavarda. Motion carried unanimous. The meeting was adjourned at 7:51 P.M. Next Meeting to be held on August 21st, 2002.
