A. Economic Development/Events Coordinator has resigned and as of our meeting it is was unclear the current status of the development of the Edgewater paddling trails. However since our subcommittee meeting July 23r1 Information that was transferred to John McKinney was passed on,and the applications is in process. B. It was also reported to the subcommittee that we had a good meeting with Liz Sparks State Paddling Trail Coordinator EPA specialist Meeting on JulylOth and was able to get out on the water with her to most of the proposed trails. One bit of discouraging revelation that came from our discussion that it is unlikely that the State would approve the trails by the end of the year since the application has not been already submitted and the trails committee only meets twice a year. This is a disappointment because our subcommittee had set a goal to get 3 trails set by the end of 2014 which is likely to now be unattainable. C. A report regarding progress on the bridge over 442 and trail to Rotary Park(provided by Rob Pollock) led to discussion regarding the delay in bridge completion likely to be the beginning of October due to weather delays and change orders by the county. The trail from Dale to the North side of the bridge has been awarded to Masci but has gone back to the county prior to start of work. Additional discussion regarding the responsibility for cross walk on Park and signage at Rotary directing people to the trail as well as to promote additional ecotourism activities available in Edgewater. D. It was suggested that our next meeting be an evening meeting and invite the members of the fishing guide community to comment on the proposed trails and therefore the meeting has been set on August 19th at 6:00 PM in the council chambers. E. Discussion was had regarding the Salty Paddle Outpost and the difficulties the vender has had as well as identifying that Edgewater has local Paddle board manufacturers including Watersedge SUP and East Coast SUP. It was also discussed that it would be great if the boards rented at the City Sponsored Salty Paddle Outpost were produced in Edgewater. I was also fortunate enough to get a tour of the Watersedge facility and discuss with the owners what if anything the Edgewater Economic Development committee could do to help them as well as what could be done to get boards produced in Edgewater to be available for rental with Salty Paddle Logo. David Rush the new CEO said he would talk to the vendor at Salty Paddle Outpost about getting him to carry some Watersedge boards. At the time of our EDC meeting I will be spreading information about Edgewater's Stand Up Paddle board manufacturers in Hilo and Kona. Not sure where I will be when you read this, but warm thoughts be with you Respectfully Aloha Jeffrey Berner Ecotourism Subcommittee Chairman
