09-29-2004 ., ....,. ...., ... CITY OF EDGEWATER POLICE PENSION BOARD Regular Meeting Wednesday, September 29, 2004 City Hall Conference Room 9:00 A.M. CALL TO ORDER: The Police Pension Board regular meeting was called to order on Wednesday, September 29,2004 at 9:10 a.m. in the City Manager's Conference Room. ROLL CALL: Members present were Kim Rash, Ferdinand Heeb, Bill Lenz, Brett Tanner. Rena Green was excused. Also in attendance was Debby Sigler, Personnel Director. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: None at this time. OLD BUSINESS: There was discussion among the members concerning the Investment Policy. Chairman Lenz agreed to give all the documents he has to Mr. Heeb and Mr. Heeb volunteered to draft the policy. NEW BUSINESS: Brett Tanner was introduced as the new board member. Mr. Heeb moved to elect Officer Rash as the board's secretarv. seconded bv Mr. Tanner. MOTION CARR1F.n 4-0. Mrs. Sigler informed the board that the City wants to seek the services of an Independent Performance Monitor to assist in the development and implementation of a strategy for the management of all the City's Defined Benefit Plans. There was discussion among the members. Mr. Heeb moved to 20 forward with the Request for ProDosals for this service. seconded bv Officer Rash. MOnON CARR~D 4-0. ....' ..", , Mrs. Sigler informed the members that due to correspondence from the State Retirement Office concerning the premium tax monies, Attorney Ken Harrison from Sugerman and Susskind has been assisting her on a retirement benefit issue. Mr. Heeb moved to allow contact with Attorney Harrison to discuss the RFP as well as this issue with the board. seconded by Officer Rash. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. There was discussion about a member attending the conference in Orlando next month and perhaps having Attorney Harrison attend a board meeting while he is up in this area for the conference. Mr. Heeb moved to reimburse the eXDenses incurred by any trustee who attends the trainin2leducation Pension conference. seconded by Mr. Tanner. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. Chairman Lenz brought it to the board's attention that a former police officer wants assistance in obtaining the contributions made to the police pension during her employment. The Personnel Department was advised by Principal that she is not eligible for those monies because she is still employed by the City in another department. Mr. Heeb moved to refer this to Attorney Harrison. seconded by Officer Rash. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. MISCELLANEOUS: None at this time ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Heeb moved to adiourn. seconded by Officer Rash.
