of officers at the conclusion of the recognition.

Mayor Randy Allman; Edgewater City Manager Kevin Grace; Southeast Volusia Regional Librarian
Russell Long; County Council Member for District 2 Jim Ward; and County Library Board
representative for District 2 Eva Williams.
Mrs. Haughwout welcomed everyone, and Board member Jo Anne Sikes delivered the blessing.

Due to time constraints of some guests, Mrs. Haughwout called the meeting back to order at 1 :15
p.m. and introduced Randy Allman, Mayor of Edgewater. Mayor Allman expressed his appreciation
to the volunteers as invaluable resources to the City, noting we wouldn't have a library if it were not
for the volunteers. He asked that they let him or the Council know if there is anything that can be
done for the library. He stated the Library is a high priority, and he thanked the volunteers for their
service.
Mrs. Haughwout introduced County Councilmember Jim Ward. Mr. Ward stated there was an
appreciation day for volunteers last Thursday at the County Council meeting. He referred to the
amount of dollars saved by volunteers, and stated the system couldn't run without them. He
expressed appreciation for their work.
Mrs. Haughwout introduced Kevin Grace, City Manager of Edgewater. Mr. Grace echoed the
remarks of the Mayor and County Councilman. He expressed the value of the volunteers, stating
we recognize it and appreciate it.
Mr. Grace commented on the status of the parking lot expansion. He stated we have the money
and the applications for permits are at St. Johns River Water Management District. He noted this
is a small site and we're trying to get as much parking as possible and are running into
environmental problems. He pointed out we'll be losing some of the current parking spaces with the
widening of 442 and we're trying to maximize the plan to get as many spots as we can. Mrs.
Haughwout asked if some of the parking with Eckerd's could be used and Mr. Grace indicated we
can look into it.
Mrs. Haughwout introduced Russell Long, Southeast Volusia Regional Librarian. Mr. Long assured
the volunteers they are unique with their rapport with this community. He stated the new regional
library will be completed within 60 to 90 days. He noted there is a lot of community interest in the
new library and they will probably have a grand opening in the Fall at a date to be set by County
Council. He invited everyone to attend the opening.
