The profits from the Car Wash were $227.(K)~ plus $50.04 which was already in the account from previous donations. LandscapinQ Project at Fire Station Mrs. Geiger showed the Commi ttee ..embers her sl.:etch of what she thought would be a good landscaping design for the Fire Station. The sketch included three large circles~ each of which would have a tree with four ground plants around the circle. The trees she chose were two 7 - 10 gallon cherry laurels and a 7 - 10 gallon crape myrtle~ stating that the cherry laurels were not prone to drought or freeze and would keep their green leaves all year round. The crape myrtle could be in the center and would provide color for eight to nine months out of the year~ losing its leaves in the winter months. All three would be relatively easy to maintain for the Fire Department personnel. The ground plants surrounding the circle could be 3 gallon green pittosporums and variegated pittosporums~ and these she said also were not prone to drought or freeze and needed relatively little care. The MeMbers discussed this choice and other possibilities and ended up with the original design by Mrs. Geiger. Size and cost was also discussed~ as well as who would be responsible for the initial planting. Mr. Loomis agreed to meet with Mr. Barlow at a later time to chalk off the circles and kill the grass and weeds in the areas where the plants will be placed. The Comaittee also decided to plant some plants in the front of the planter which surrounds the Fire Buildings. These~ they decided~ would be chosen on the basis of availability as a lot of varieties of plants cannot be planted this time of year due to the heat.
