05-12-1992 .. ... "W ..., CITY OF EDGEWATER BEAUTIFICATION , TREE COMMITTEE MAY 12, 1992 7;00 P.M. CITY HALL CONFERENCE ROOM MINUTES ROLL CALL/CALL TO ORDER: The Chairman, Felicia Ver Way, called the regular meeting of the Beautification and Tree Committee to order at 7:04 p.m. in the city Hall Conference Room. Members present Betty Rossman. arrived at 7:13 Secretary. were: Felicia Ver Way, Richard Roberts, and Tanina Palermo was excused. Linda Sullivan p.m. Also present was Lisa Kruckmeyer, Recording APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Ms. Rossman made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 14, 1992 meeting and Mr. Roberts seconded the motion. Motion CARRIED 3-0. OLD BUSINESS: Ms. Rossman asked to be excused from the June and July meetings. Chairman Ver Way thanked everyone for their help at the Arbor Day Celebration. It turned out very nice. Ms. Rossman thanked Felicia for all of her hard work. Chairman Ver Way thanked Richard for helping pick out the trees. Chairman Ver Way asked the Secretary if she had received the proclamation from Councilman Giorno that he was supposed to read at our Arbor Day Celebration. The Secretary stated she didn't know anything about it. The Committee then further discussed the obstacles from the Arbor Day Celebration. NEW BUSINESS: Resolution 92-R-07 Former Beautification Committee with the Tree city USA purposes The Committee then had a discussion on Resolution on 92-R-07. Chairman Ver Way explained it was her understanding if a committee member wanted to serve another term, they would be considered first before picking new people to serve. Ms. Sullivan stated when Jack Corder is present at their meetings, they don't have a say in anything they do. Mr. Corder seems to be negative towards their input. Chairman Ver Way asked the Secretary to include the Tree Ordinance in the next packet. Ms. Rossman stated she thinks there should be more than five on the committee, especially since they have taken over the Tree Committee also. Ms. Rossman suggested speaking to the city Attorney about this Resolution and coming back with it at the next meeting for further discussion. The Committee then discussed putting everything on hold until after the summer when all of the members can be present. ,. 'W ..." There was further discussion on Resolution 92-R-07. Ms. Sullivan asked if they would really be able to comply with certain items listed in the resolution. She reiterated that Mr. corder says "no" about all of their suggestions. Chairman Ver Way stated she thinks now they should be involved with the riverwalk project and the medians. Ms. Rossman stated the City Manager is expecting big things from the Committee. Mr. Roberts stated the ordinances are outdated and he thought Mr. Howard was rewriting the tree ordinances. The Committee then discussed other projects they would like to do. Chairman Ver Way asked the Secretary to order another Tree City U.S.A. sign to put at the entrance of the City limits coming from Oak Hill. Chairman Ver Way stated she would speak to the Attorney about the Resolution and report back to the Committee next month. The Committee discussed trees that the County Agricultural Department donates to people. Chairman Ver Way asked the Secretary to invite Bob Howard to the next meeting. June Beautification Award Choice The selections were tabulated and the winning residence was 2948 Victory Palm Drive. The following are the picks for the July award: Betty - Bella vista Baptist Church, Richard - 2nd Generation Appliance, Felicia - Barnett Bank, and Linda - Caddy Shack Dairy Bar. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to discuss, Ms. Rossman made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Ms. Sullivan.
