BEAUTIFICATION , TREE COMMITTEE
TUESDAY, JANUARY 12, 1993

MINUTES
ROLL CALL/CALL TO ORDER:
The Chairman, Felicia Ver Way, called the regular meeting of the
Beautification & Tree Committee to order at 7:07 p.m. in the City
Hall Conference Room.
Members present were: Felicia Ver Way, Doris stump, and Tina
Palermo. Betty Rossman and Linda Sullivan were absent. Also
present was Lisa Kruckmeyer, Recording Secretary.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Ms. Stump made a motion to approve the minutes of the December 8,
1992 meeting, seconded by Ms. Palermo. The motion CARRIED 3-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
criteria for Beautification Award
Chairman Ver Way stated they would table this item.
Arbor Dav
The Committee discussed when and where they would hold Arbor Day
this year.
Chairman Ver Way read a letter she received from Brad Johnson.
She stated if we get the recertification, we will get a new flag
and she would like it kept on the side so they have it when they
need it.
The Committee briefly discussed some of the items that will be on
the agenda for the Arbor Day celebration.
Ms. Palermo made a motion to hold Arbor Day at Veterans Park on
April 16th (tentatively), seconded by Ms. Stump. The motion
CARRIED 3-0.
Chairman Ver Way asked that Arbor Day be put on the next agenda.
Chairman Ver Way stated the Mayor was sorry he could not attend
this meeting because of school but stated he is very pleased with
the work the Committee is doing.
Chairman Ver Way gave a more detailed explanation of her
conversation with Mayor Hayman.
Chairman Ver Way stated the Edgewater Area Chamber would like to
meet with the Committee at the next meeting. There was some
discussion where they could have this meeting.
Chairman Ver Way explained the reasoning behind the Edgewater
Area Chamber wanting to meet with their Committee.
Ms. Palermo made a motion to change the next month's meeting to
6:30 p.m. in the Library if it is available, seconded by Ms.
Stump. Motion CARRIED 3-0.
Chairman Ver Way asked the Committee to make a list of things
they would like to discuss with the Edgewater Area Chamber.

The Committee discussed some ideas for them to discuss with the
Edgewater Area Chamber.
The Committee decided they would let the Edgewater Area Chamber
give suggestions but they would not let them take over.
Chairman Ver Way filled the Committee in on the progress of the
Florida Shores Shopping Center.
Chairman Ver Way asked the Committee if they had done their
letters about beautification of the businesses along U.S. #1.
Ms. Palermo and Ms. Ver Way read their letters.
Chairman Ver Way stated she would speak to the Attorney and see
what she says about the two letters that have been done.
Chairman Ver Way asked this letter be put on the next agenda.
NEW BUSINESS:
Februarv Beautification Award Choice
The selections were tabulated and the winning residence was 800
S. Riverside Drive.
The picks for the March award were 1831 Sabal Palm Drive, 18
Harris Circle, and 1815 Needle Palm Drive.
Chairman Ver Way stated Mrs. Ford's secretary informed her that
she refuses to accept the award from December.
Chairman Ver Way read a letter she received from Bob Crawford,
Commissioner, of the Florida Department of Agriculture and
Consumer Services.
The Committee then asked the secretary when their terms expire
which she listed at that time.
The Committee then discussed the procedure for their meeting with
the Edgewater Area Chamber.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, Ms. Stump made a
motion to adjourn, seconded by Ms. Palermo. The meeting
adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
