03-09-1995 ..... ....., CITY OF EDGEWATER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MARCH 9, 1995 7:00 P.M. CITY HALL MINUTES ROLL CALL/CALL TO ORDER The March 9, 1995 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board was called to order by the Chairman, Tom Tipton, at 7: 05 P.M. in the Edgewater City Hall. Members present were: Tom Tipton, Shirley Pittman, Larry Ruggles. Member Hal Jones was absent and Secretary noted she had received a resignation letter Paul Alvord that day. Also present at the meeting was Corder, Director of Parks and Recreation. and the from Jack APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Ruggles moved to approve the minutes of the January 12, 1995 meeting and Mrs. Pittman seconded the motion. Motion CARRIED 3-0. OLD BUSINESS 26 Acres/Tour of Homes Mr. Corder stated we are now out for bids on the construction of the home and we have had the closing for the lot that was purchased on the southwest corner of Royal Palm and Indian River Boulevard. He said the bids on the construction are due back on April 19th and he would like to have a meeting soon thereafter for the Board to review them. Mr. Tipton asked him if he specified in the bids the exact amount of rooms and exactly what he wanted or was it more general. Mr. Corder replied he just gave a few specifics such as 1,600 square feet, split plan, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 car garage, fireplace, option with pool, etc. and the design they come up with will really be their own and when the bids come back we will decide on factors such as price, design and furnishings. Mr. Corder said he is looking at September 11th as the date for actually opening up the tours to the home. He proceeded to show the Board a coupon flyer he had made up to hand out at the upcoming Business Expo as a little pre advertisement. Mr. Ruggles asked if the city were required to take the lowest bid on this project and Mr. Corder replied no and we can pick the design we like. Mr. Corder said the drawing would be December 16th and it would be held either at the house or at the 26 acre site and maybe we could have a tent set up and have a BBQ or something similar. Mr. Ruggles asked about the eligibility of Board members to be able to purchase a ticket and Mr. Corder said Council had decided that everyone, even himself and the Board could have a chance to win. The Board further discussed ticket sales furnishings, appliances, etc. for the home. that the Board will have a special meeting review the bids that come back. ,advertising, It was decided on May 2nd to "W" ...." NEW BUSINESS General Update/Parks Mr. Corder said baseball season is we have about 40 some teams this due to the baseball strike, we spring training game bus trips. year's Easter Egg Hunt will be on Park. beginning March 18th and year. He also said that would not be having any He also noted that this April 8th at Whistle stop He stated another small portion of the Riverwalk had been completed by his staff and another would be done if we get the easement and that will get everything complete all the way to Veterans Park. He said there are still three properties to the south of there and we have an agreement to get an easement on one, which will leave two remaining. MISCELLANEOUS Mr. Tipton talked about a car that the students at his high school had made and they get requests to take the car around and show it and he questioned whether or not they could maybe show it for the kids at the Summer Recreation program. Mr. Corder said that would be good for a morning session and they would get together on it later. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Mr. Ruggles moved to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Pittman.
