26ORDINANCE NO. 26.
An Ordinance providing for the Passing, Approval or
Disapproval, Publication or Posting, Effect and Recording of
ordinances passed by the Town Council ofihe Town of Edgewater,
Florida.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Edge-
water, Florida;
Section 1. Every ordinance shall be in writing, and upon
being introduced, shall be read entire, and, if a majority vote
shall so order, shall be passed for the first time, and referred
to the Committee on Ordinances, who shall examine it and report
whether it is within the scope of the powers conferred upon the
town. At any subsequent regular or adjourned meeting the
ordinance may be called up by any member, whereupon it shall be
again read entire, and may then, by a majority vote be finally
passed, whereupon it shall be signed by the President of the
Town Council and attested by the Clerk. No ordinance shall be-
come a law without having been read and passed at two separate
meetings as herein required; provided, however that by unanimous
consent, ordinances may be passed upon their first and final read-
ings at one meeting of the Council.
Section 2. The vote upon the question of the passage of
an ordinance, whether upon the first or second reading, shall
be taken by yeas and nays, and shall be recorded by the Clerk
in the proceedings of the meeting. As soon as practicable

after the final passage of an ordinance by the Council, the
Clerk shall certify the same to the Mayor, who, if he approves
the same, shall sign and return it to the Clerk. If the Mayor
does not approve the ordinance, he shall return the same to the
Council not later than its next regular meeting, giving his reason
in writing for not approving the same. The ordinance so dis-
approved by the Mayor shall be again put before the Council for
a vote, and if two thirds of the members of the Council vote for
its re -passage, it shall become effective as an ordinance, the
Mayor's disapproval to the contrary notwithstanding; provided,
that if the Mayor takes no action and fails to return any ordinance
not later than the next regular meeting of the Council, such
ordinance shall become a law without his approval.
Section 3. Every ordinance shall, before becoming a law,
be posted at the Town Hall, and at three public places, and shall
become effective two days after becoming a; ,�unless otherwise
provided in the ordinance. If the Council deems it necessary,
any ordinance before becoming effective may be published once in
a newspaper of general circulation in 4olusia County, Florida,
and shall likewise be posted at the Town Hall and at three public
places as above required.
Section 4. The Clerk shall record every ordinance that
shall become a law, in a book kept for that purpose, and shall
impress the seal of the Town thereon, which record shall show
the dates of the passage and the date of the approval by the
Mayor, and if any ordinance shall become a law without the Mayor's,

approval, the Clerk shall so certify upon the record.
Section 5. The Clerk shall post all ordinances, and
when be shall record any ordinance he shall enter upon the
record immediately following such ordinance, the following
certificate which shall be signed by him:

When the Clerk shall record any ordinance required by
the Council to be published in a newspaper, in addition to
his certificate of nosting the same, given above, he shall
enter upon, or attach to, the record, immediately following
such ordinance, an affidavit substantially in the following
form:

Such affidavit shall be subscribed on the record by the
publisher of such paper, and may be taken before any officer
authorized to administer oaths.

Section 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
