60CBDIHAXCS No. 60. AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ALL MOTOR VEHICLES TO STOP UPON APPROACHING ANY SCHOOL BUS UPON THE ROADS, STREETS, OR HIGHWAYS IN THE TOWN OF. EDGEWATER, WHILE ENGAGED IN RECEIVING OR DIS- CHARGING SCHOOL CHILDRENg .AND PROVIDIPiG A PENALTY FOR A VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF; AND REQUIRING ALL ITOTOR VEHICLES US- ED IN TRANSPORTING SCHOOL CHILDREN TO BE ➢IS- TINCTLY M&RIM "SCHOOL BUS", AS HEREIN.PRO- VIDED. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDGE- WATE'R, FLORIDAs Section.l. That every person using, operating or driving a motor vehicle upon or over the roads, streets or high- ways in the Town of Edgewater, Florida, upon approaching any aebool bus or other motor vehicle used in transport- ing school children to and from school, while such bus or other motor vehicle is stopped and engaged in taking on or discharging such school children therefrom, upon the roads, streets or highways in the Town of Edgewater, Florida, be, and they are hereby required to bring such motor vehicle to a full stop before passing such school bus or motor vehicle provided such school bus or motor vehicle used in transport- ing school children is marked for identification as provid- ed in Section 3 of this Ordinance. Section 2. That any person or persons failin6 to comply with the requirements of Section lof this Ordinance or vio- lating any of the provisions thereof, shall, upon convict- ion thereof, be punished by a fine not to exceed Fifty ($50.00) Dollars or by imprisonment not to exceed thirty • days, or by both such fine and imprisonment in the discret- ion of the Mayor as Municipal Judge. Section 3. That all motor vehicles used in transporting school children to and from school over the roads, streets and highways in the Town of Edgewater, Florida, be and are hereby required to be distinctly marked "School Bus" on both front, rear and sides thereof, in letters of not less than five inches in length and so plainly written or printed and so arranged as to be legible to persons approaching such school bus whether traveling in the same or opposite direct- ions and that such school bus driver be required to stop such school bus on the right hand side of such road, street or highway as close to the curb or edge of the road as is practical. Section 4. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. Section 5. That this Ordinance shall, upon the date follow- ing its passage be posted for a period of five days at the V. I. A. Hall and three public places in the Town of Edgewater, Florida, and shall become effective immediately upon its passage. This Ordinance was read a first time in full and passed by the unanimous vote of the Town Council of the Town of Edge- water, Florida. Upen Motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried the requirement of reading this Ordinance upon second reading was waived and this Ordinance was ordered put upon its final Passage. -g- Passed upon final passage with the unanimous vote of the Town Council of the Town of Edgewater, Florida and appro- ved as provided by law this 3 day of A.
