1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 8:03 a.m.
2. ROLL CALL
Present 2- Chairperson Jeff Berner and Board Member Cecil Selman
Excused 1- Board Member Steve Harrell
Also present was Economic Development Coordinator Samantha Bishop,Planning Technician
Tabitha Russell, and Board Coordinator Mitch Honaker
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
AR-2015-676 Minutes from the regular meeting of 01/28/15
A motion was made by Board Member Selman, second by Chairperson Berner, to
approve the minutes for January 28, 2015. The MOTION was APPROVED by the
following vote:
Yes: 2- Jeff Berner,and Cecil Selman
Excused: 1- Steve Harrell
4. REPORTS
a. Economic Development Coordinator
Economic Development Coordinator Samantha Bishop discussed the launching of the City's new
website on March 3, 2015, and Edgewater's Community Paddle event around Firecracker Island on
Sunday March 22, 2015.
b. Rails to Trails project in Edgewater
The board discussed:
The Rails to Trails paving and improvements at the intersection of Park Avenue and Old Mission
Road, which is estimated to begin in approximately three (3) weeks.
A portion of the trail recently being approved to run in front of the homes along Cow Creek Road.

Future trail routes and facilities.
Signage for Rotary Park.
Leisure Services Director Jack Corder working on a plan to incorporate and support eco-tourism.
Developing a human interest sign at the parking lot for the trail head.
The need for a new historian to replace Joanne Sykes.
5. CONTINUED BUSINESS
a. Progress on GIS mapping
The board discussed projects being worked on by GIS Technician Frank Vignati, and stated that GIS
mapping of the islands has been completed.
b. Progress on promotion of Community Paddle for Riverfest Event
Promoting Edgewater's "Community Paddle"was discussed during agenda item 4-a.
6. NEW BUSINESS
a. Webs ite presentation ofEdgewater's Ecotourism opportunities
The board discussed:
Changes made to the new website.
Having at least two (2)ways to get to the website's trail information.
Getting trails information and maps up and running on the website.
Adding more to the website as maps are updated.
Encouraging EDB members to review the website and make comments.
b. Discuss need for brochures and designs
The board discussed:
Making use of quick response (QR)codes for the City's website.
Producing an electronic brochure.
Having links to Paddling& Trails on the website.

Developing trail information verbiage to use on the City's webpage.
Sending maps and verbiage to established paddling organizations and fisherman in the local area to
get their feedback, comments, and suggestions.
Having a link to the Florida Fish& Wildlife Conservation Commission on the website.
Having Edgewater fishing locations on the website.
Having a link to just one location for fishing information to reduce website congestion.
Partnering with the Daytona Beach Advertising Authority and with SouthEast Volusia Chambers
(SE V).
Requesting Volusia County add Edgewater's trail to the Riverbreeze Park sign and to list
Menard-May Park as a paddling launch site.
Getting Edgewater's new website domain on to search engines.
Using Facebook and not dividing up the intended audience.
The desire for providing specific information on Facebook and limiting individualized activities and
people.
Possible "Slog"locations.
The board also discussed distributing volunteer for the Marine Discovery Center, Warren Reynolds'
paddling trail information to the paddling community for tips and feedback.
