GRANICUS 4/2/14 report of ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD ECOTOURISM from March 26, 2014 meeting Janet suggested some maps of possible blue water trails that would be worth checking out before meeting with the Florida Paddling Association to discuss blue water community designation. I received a report from Rob Pollock who is the new job coordinator for the bridge project. He stated that the excessive amount of rain that we had this winter has put them behind because the first phase of the project is underground and they wanted to avoid having to dewater the area. However they have been able to complete the pilings and foundational infrastructure and the rest of the construction will be more visible as the bridge comes up out of the ground. We added to the list of businesses that will benefit and may help fund promoting ecotourism in Edgewater as well as discussed "Way Finding" signage and the fact that this subcommittee is not able to act on signage because that is in the City of Edgewater's function and is currently being worked on. However, it was also discussed that it is this committee's responsibility to emphasis the importance in insuring that our ectouristic locations are provided with adequate signage when the City is considering signage. Note ask what City component or contractor is currently developing "Way Finding"Signage and can our subcommittee get a report on current signage plans for the existing parks and soon to be hiking trail? Chip suggested that in our next meeting we discuss and work on the appropriate CEDS topics that apply to Ecotourism. We planned a paddling trip to follow the maps that Janet Shira suggested and that was planned weather permitting for the afternoon of our next scheduled meeting on April 23, at 5:00. B.A Contractor report was given for pedestrian bridge over 442 and as you may have noticed they are out of the ground at least on the South side of 442 with uprights and trusses. C. Now that we have developed a list of the businesses in Edgewater that would benefit from Echotourism our next step is to brainstorm on how to help them see how they can benefit so that we can elicit their help in building Echotourism. D. WE have also developed lists of groups that would be interested in participating in Echotour activities and contact methods for those groups. Our next step is to reach out to those groups to see what response we get regarding our current plans for setting Kayak trails and suggestion for opportunities and activities that would augment Edgewater's existing plans. E. We started reviewing the CEDS issues pertinent to Ecotourism. Most of the components as we are finding in our full committee are in processes however it is difficult to establish a percentage completion for the CEDS and it was suggested that many of the issues asked about would be best answered by the Parks and Rec/Leisure Services director therefore Janet said she would extend an invitation to our next meeting. In the interim Janet has Emailed us one of the Items discussed which was the Bicycle/Pedestrian • Masterplan which is updated annually. I would like to refer to the map that is Exhibit"A" Since the meeting we also went on a paddle at 5:30 on April 23`d which Janet did a great job coordinating we paddled a likely short trail, 1 hr paddle and all had an enjoyable time.
