RESOLUTION NO. 2002-R-IO
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDGEW A TER, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER AND/OR THE DIRECTOR OF PARKS,
RECREATION AND CULTURAL SERVICES TO EXECUTE
REQUESTS FOR TEMPORARY CLOSING/SPECIAL USE OF
ST A TE ROAD PERMITS REQUESTING CLOSING OF
STATE ROADS FOR ANY SPECIAL EVENTS (PARADES,
FAIR, ETC.) WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION (FDOT); STIPULATING THAT THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL MANAGE ALL DETAILS
INVOLVED IN ADMINISTRATION OF A SPECIAL EVENT;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD A
CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION; REPEALING
RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) issues Permits for closures
of State Roads relating to special events such as art festivals, parades, annual charity drives, fairs,
fund drives, races, runs, motorcades, or similar activities of local interests; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to comply with the requirements contained in Chapter 14-65.0035
(Temporary Closing of State Roads Other Than Limited Access Facilities), of the Florida
Administrative Code, the City of Edgewater will hereby designate appropriate City Officials as
authorized agents of the City and grant their authority to request closure ofa state road for a special
event.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Edgewater, Florida:
Section 1.
Pursuant to the requirements contained in Chapter 14-65.0035 (Temporary
Closing of State Roads Other Than Limited Access Facilities) of the Florida Administrative Code,
2002-R-IO

the City hereby designates wCity Manager and Director of Parks aJ"MIIRecreation the authority to
apply for a Temporary Closing/Special Use of State Road as it would relate to U. S. Highway #1 or
State Road #442.
Section 2. The City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute all permit
applications for submission to FDOT.
Section 3.
The City hereby stipulates that the City of Edge water Police Department will
manage all details involved in administration of any designated or permitted special event.
Section 4.
The City Clerk is hereby authorized to transmit a copy of this Resolution
along with a Certification to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Section 5.
All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are
hereby repealed.
Section 6. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
