3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a. AR-2015-739 Minutes -Regular Meeting January 6,2015
A motion was made by Member Power, second by Member Smith, to approve the minutes
of January 6,2015. The MOTION was APPROVED by the following vote:
Yes: 3- Vance Smith,Mike Kelly,and Christine Power
Excused: 1- Rebecca Porter
Absent: 1- Justin Kennedy
4. OLD BUSINESS
a. AR-2015-778 Review of 2015 Princess Ball
The Committee discussed, the total ticket sales of $2,43600(348 tickets sold); the top ticket sales
being at the Door, by the YMCA, and by Read Patillo; top donations coming from Member & Mrs
Smith (Chic-fil A), BJ's Flowers, and Member Power; event expenditures totaling $1,285.91; and a
Netproceeds after all deductions of$1,259.09.
The committee recognized all those who made the event such a huge success, with special recognition
going out to Leisure Services, and to the event Princess volunteers, who were coordinated by
Councilman Dan Blazi.
b. AR-2015-777 Update on scholarship funds -Finance Director John McKinney
Finance Director John McKinney stated that he took a look at the financials, and at the time there is
approximately$3,000 available to award some scholarships.

5. NEW BUSINESS
After Mr. McKinney provided the available funds for scholarships he stated that the City's next
Edgefest in May, with donations going for the Edgewater School Scholarship fund, has been
rescheduled for June 6, 2015. The Committee and Mr. McKinney discussed.-
The Edgefest event being at the YMCA, with an open pool day for the community, at no charge.
The event presenting a funding opportunity for the School Scholarship Committee.
Revenue sources for the School Scholarship fund the importance of getting residents to sign up to
make a monthly donation with their water bill; and various ways to encourage people to sign up to
make a monthly donation.
Each Edgefest always having a cause, and June being the month for the School Scholarship fund the
City providing certain items like the venue and popcorn, and the organization that benefits from the
cause providing the event manpower and items they want to sell to raise funds.
The June 6, 2015 Edgefest being advertised as a welcome to summer pool party; possibly having a
movie, a disc jockey, and watermelon; and trying to make the event a very good family time at the
pool.
Member Smith discussed he and his wife donating 300 Chik-fil-A sandwiches to sell at the event to
raise scholarship funds.
The Committee and Mr. McKinney discussed the usual number of Edgefest attendance as being
between 750 to 1,000 people; the June Edgefest being a free pool day at the YMCA as a positive
attendance booster; putting a "suggested" donation amount of $5.00 to the school scholarship fund
for each family that attends; and the Committee committing to the June Edgefest, and working out the
operational details at a later date.
Not selling items that event vendors are selling; the No Name Saloon donating half their profits to
the cause for each Edgefest event; and working them somewhere into the program.
Various configurations at the YMCA to set up Edgefest vendors and other support operations.
What movie to show; when to start the movie; and looking into the possibility of showing the movie in
the gym.
Time for Committee members to arrive to support Edgefest, hours on site for the committee; number
of volunteers needed from the Committee; and communicating with either Board Coordinator Mitch
Honaker or directly with Mr. McKinney as to the hours and times that each committee member will
be able to support the Edgefest.
After discussion, the Committee concurred to commit to support the June 6, 2015 Edgefest.

a. AR-2015-740 Board Appointment due to the expired term of Mike Kelly.
A motion was made by Member Power, second by Member Kennedy, to forward a
recommendation to Council to reappoint Chair Mike Kelly to the School Scholarship
Committee.
b. AR-2015-741 Board Appointment due to the expired term of Rebecca Porter.
A motion was made by Member Power, second by Member Kennedy, to forward a
recommendation to the Council to reappoint Member Rebecca Porter to the School
Scholarship Committee.
d. AR-2015-779 Determination of Scholarship amount and number of awards
After discussion, the Committee concurred not to establish the amount of each scholarship until after
they determine the scholarship recipients.
C. AR-2015-742 Determination of scholarship recipients
The Committee discussed applicants that each board member considered to be their top nominations
for consideration of a scholarship award,- applicant credentials, attributes, and needs; whether
applicants were accepted to a college or not; that scholarship funds are more likely to be used if an
applicant has already applied for, and been accepted to college; applicant contributions to the
community; class ranking; SAT and GPA scores; the ability of some applicants to balance, school,
sports, community involvement, and work, and still carry high test scores and GPA; family income;
applicant needs; and a$1,000 scholarship making a difference.
A motion was made by Member Power, second by Chair Kelly, to award one (1) thousand
dollars each in scholarships to; Emily Porcelli, James Martin, and Payton Rajotte. The
MOTION was APPROVED by the following vote:
Yes: 4- Justin Kennedy,Vance Smith,Mike Kelly,and Christine Power
Excused: 1- Rebecca Porter
6. ADJOURN
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
