Present Mayor Michael Thomas Councilman Mike Ignasiak Councilman Gene Emter Councilwoman Gigi Bennington City Manager Tracey Barlow City Clerk Bonnie Wenzel Absent Councilwoman Christine Power Mayor Thomas opened the meeting for public comment. Ms. Alice Halderman, 930 Lake Avenue thanked the Council for having Lake Avenue paved and stated that it looks very nice; and that she is concerned about the amount of glass broken by the recycling contracting company personnel during pick up. Council, staff and Ms. Halderman discussed the recycling contractor procedures and City Manager Tracey Barlow stated that it was the first complaint of broken glass that he had received, and the Public Works Director Brenda Dewees was taking a note and would carry the concern to the City's contractor. Councilman Emter congratulated Finance Director John McKinney and full staff for a successful Edgefest stating that everyone had a good time and enjoyed the activities; and that the City just had a brochure printed dealing with signs and the sign Code for businesses letting them know what they can do in accordance with the City's Code and that the brochure has been well received by the business community. Ms. Agnes Witter, 223 Flagler Avenue, Council and staff discussed the Homeless meeting that was held in DeLand; possible homeless locations in Edgewater; homeless issues; and future needs and support on the Safe Harbor proposal. City of Edgewater Page 1 Printed on 1012912014 City Council Meeting Minutes October 6,2014 Councilwoman Christine Power arrived at 5:16p.m. The Council and staff discussed the number of housing permit applications and their status; annexations that are in the pipeline and possible future annexations; an update on Deering Park and Restorations; and City Manager Barlow introduced Edgewater's new Economic Development Coordinator, Samantha Bishop. Dan Blazi, 220 Oak Branch Drive discussed the planned support for Edgewater's Haunted Forest and congratulated the City for Edgefest events. Financial Director John McKinney presented an update of planned activities and vendors for the November 1, 2014 Edgefest being held at Hawks Park, announced the Cornhole Tournament and Battle of the Badges Backyard BBQ winners; and discussed planned venues and support for future Edgefest events.
