172 ORDINANCE NO. 172 • AN ORDINANCE PRO vIDING FOR A CHIEF OFt POLICE; PROVIDING FOP NHS COMPENSATION. `' ' Yr//vy BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EDG rI'ATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That there is hereby created the office of Chief of Police of the Town of Edgewater, Florida, andJlmc ,In,.c'_ s r,_ E i is hereby appointed to said office, to serve at the pleasure of the Town Council of said Town. That the duties of said office shall be to regulate traffic within the Town of Edgewater, Florida, and to preserve order generally in said Town and to perform the duties usually performed by Chief of Police in a municipality. SLMTION 2. Compens_tion of the Chief of Police shall be the of $165.00 per month and a travel allowance of $.0- e for of his motorcycle necessarily used in the performance of his duties. SECTION 3. Chief of Police shall be on duty and subject to call at all times and shall report to the Town Clerk every two hours during the day-time except when emergencies rake it impossible. The action of the Town Council of said town heretofore taken by motion, in employing and appointing Elmo Jackson u'd� as Chief of Police, and fixing his compensation, and the action of the Mayor and Town Clerk in paying such compensation for his services, be and the same are hereby severally ratified and approved by said Town Council. SECTION 4. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. s ' SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
