Section 1. No person suffering from any contagious or commun-
icable disease shall be employed in any hotel, restaurant, apart-
ment house or rooming house or place where food or drink is dis-
pensed or sold to the public in the Town of : dgewater, Florida,
to prepare or handle food, drink, dishes, towels, or linens, or in
any other capacity whereby such disease might be communicated to
guests or tenants, nor shall any employer act in such capacity
when suffering from any such contagious or communicable disease.
Section 2. All such employers and er.:ployees in the business places
above enumerated in the Town of Edgewater, Florida, shall furnish
health certificates, including a Wasserman test, signed by a regis-
tered licensed physician of the State of Florida, whenever the Layor
of the Town of Edgewater, Florida in his discretion, deems it nec-
essary for the protection of public health. However the exercise of
such discretion may at any time be reviewed and action thereunder
,nulled by the Town Council of the said Town on cause shown. No
person shall be so employed or act in such capacity in such place
without having such certificate.
Section 3. Any person found guilty of violating any of the provis-
ions of this Ordinance shall be punished by fine no exceeding Fifty
Dollars or imprisonment in jail not exceeding sixty (60) days , or
both at the discretion of the : ayor' s court of said Town of Edgewater,
Florida.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
passage.
This -rdinance vas read in full and passed by the unani-
mous vote of the Town Council of the Town of Edgewater, Florida,
at its regular meeting on the 17th day of December, A. D. 1940.
Upon motion duly made , seconded and unanimously carried
the requirement of reading this -rdinar_ce upon second_reading was
waived and this L,rdinan_ce was ordered put upon its final passage.
Passed by the unanimous vote of the Town Council of the
Town of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida, and approved as pro-
vided by law on this 17th day of December, A. D. 1940.
