FLORIDA:
Section 1. It is hereby made the duty of every person at any
time being in the Town of Ldgewater, Florida to comply with
all regulations prescribed by the United States Government
or the itate of Florida or the Town of Edgewater , ilorida or
any duly constituted authority or agency thereof regarding or
relating to blackouts, air raids or any emergency connected
with the existing war conditions and any neglect or refusal
to so comply shall be deemed and taken as an offense against
the peace and dignity of the Town of Edgewater, Florida and
shall be triable and punishea in the Liayor' s Court of said
Town as other offenses against said Town are triable and
punished.
Section 2: No one in said Town of Edgewater, Florida shall
:ermit any light to reuain burning in any position or place
where the same shall be visible from the outside during the
period of any blackout ordered by any duly constituted author-
ity of she United States of America or the State of Florida
nor during any air raid, ana it is hereby 'Lade the duty of
every person, firm or corporation to provide for the exting-
uishment of all lights in and upon such premises belonging
to or under their supervision or control. 1rov•ided however
that flash lights, automobile head lights or other lighting
devices may be used where the same are covered and used in
accordance with rules and regulations prescidbed or to be pre -

scribed by the duly constituted authorities of the United
,,tales of America or the State o.f Florida; and provided
that lights may be allowed to burn where permission therefor
has been granted by the United States Government or the otate
of Florida or their proper authorized officials.
section 3t It shall be unlawful for any individual to be
upon the streets or thoroughfares of the said Town of Ldge-
water or outside of homes or other shelter during any black-
out period or during any air raid or wartime emergency except
and unless such person is accompanied by a duly authorized
,;aide or air raid warden. This section shall not apply to
physicians or aLibulances or those engaged in the care and
treatment of the sick or wounded nor to clergymen engaged in
the performance of their religious duties, nor to any AgOiktsrs
of the Civilian:Defense.
Section 4: It shall be unlawful for any person to resist or
to interfere with any duly authorized officer of the United
states Government or the estate of Florida, member of the
national, state or local Defense Council or officer appointed
by any of the said Defense agencies during a blackout cr air
raid or other war emergency and while any such officials.or
officers are engaged in the performance of their duties as
such officials or officers.
Section 5: The word "person” as used in this Ordinance shall
be deemed to include individuals, firms or corporations.
• Section 6: Any person, firm, partnership, corporation, co-
partnership or association who shall violate any of the pro-
visions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction thereof, be
punished by fine nct exceeding Fifty Dollars ($50.00) , and
costs or by imprisonment not exceeding sixty (60) days, or by
both fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the Court.

erection 7: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon its approval and passage by the LL:ayor.
This Ordinance was read a first time in full and passed by
the unanimous vote of the Town Council of the Town of Edge-
water, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Town Council
of the 20th day of January, 1942.
Upon motion duly made , seconded and unanimously carried,
the requirement of reading this Ordinance upon second reading
was waived and this Ordinance was ordered put upon its final
passage at a regular meeting, of the Town Council of the Town
of Ldgewater, held the 20th day of January, 1942. Said Or-
dinance was passed at said regular meeting upon its final
passage with the unanimous vote of the I'own Council of the

Town of Edgewater, Florida, and approved as provided by law
this 20th day of January, 1942, the vote of the Council being
as follows:
