1. CALL TO ORDER
The Chairman, Tom Tipton called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
2. ROLL CALL
Board Member Thomas Tipton was present and Board Member Michael Visconti was Excused. Also
present was Mayor Mike Ignasiak, Jack Corder, Director of Leisure Services and Barb Kowall,
Board Coordinator.
Present 3- Walt Zakaluzny,Debra Sopko and Kadie Mullins
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Board Member Kadie Mullins made a Motion to approve the Minutes of the October 9, 2014 Meeting
and Board Member Debra Sopko Seconded the Motion.
This Motion was unanimously approved.
4. OLD BUSINESS
Christmas Light Decorating Contest
The Board reviewed and tallied the entries for the Christmas Light Decorating Contest. The winning
address for "Christmas Lights Only" was 3211 Needle Palm Drive and the winning address for
"Christmas Lights w/Animation/Inflatables" was 27 Wildwood Drive. The winners will be notified
and invited to attend the January 13th meeing of the Recreation/Cultural Services Board to receive
their gift baskets and take pictures.
5. NEW BUSINESS
Update on Rotary Park restrooms, Hawks Park and U.S. 1 sidewalk project:
Mr. Corder stated that the restroom renovation at Rotary Park is almost completed and should
reopen around the first of the year. At that time the bid process will be starting on the paved parking
lot.
He informed the board that we have cleared 7 acres west of the YMCA and the 8 inch reuse water
line has been run and is hooked up to reuse water. Also, the irrigation lines are being run to the
ballfields. The irrigation system will be put on timers.
The U.S. 1 sidewalk project from Volco Road to the Boulevard on the east side is in progress.

Concrete was poured the day previous and next week they will start cutting the trees along the front
of the cemetery. The fence will be replaced by a hedge that will run the length of the cemetery.
Mr. Corder said he has negotiated with the YMCA to start a baseball program for ages 3- 8.
Expansion of this program will depend on the numbers. The YMCA already has a huge soccer
program with around 400 kids participating.
He stated the resurfacing of the tennis courts at Whistle Stop Park has been completed and the
fencing will be replaced on the north courts around the first of the year.
6. OTHER BUSINESS
At this time Mr. Corder introduced our new Mayor, Mike Ignasiak to the board. The Mayor stated he
was a big supporter of recreation and very interested in what this board is doing. He specifically
spoke about Whistle Stop Park and how it has become outdated. He issued a challenge to the board
to come up with some ideas to renovate this park and make it more family friendly. The board
agreed to bring their ideas to the next meeting in January.
