BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS
WORKSHOP
SEPTEMBER 8, 1975
Vice Chairwoman Murphy called the Workshop of the Board of Adjustments
to order.

OLD BUSINESS
Mrs. Woodard stated that Mrs. Nichols and Mr. Fenske have been
appointed back to the board for 3 years.
NEW BUSINESS
Mrs. Nichols stated that she is starting to school and Monday is her
school night and she will either have to take a leave of absence for
three meetings, or something.
Mrs. Woodard made a motion to change our meeting nights to' _ the
first Wednesday of every month, being seconded by Mrs. Nichols.
Said motion CARRIED.
Mrs. Woodard stated that she is going out of office, and she sug-
gested that the board have the Vice Chairman move into the Chair-
man position, then nominate the other officers. We did not stipu-
late this the last time, so we can not do it now, but we could
stipulate this now.
Mrs. Nichols nominated Mrs. Murphy as chairman, being seconded by
Mrs. Woodard. Mrs. Murphy was elected as chairwoman.
Mrs. Nichols nominated Mr. Denton as vice chairman, being seconded
by Mrs. Woodard. Mr. Denton was elected as v1ce chairman.
Mrs. Murphy read the request of Thomas H. Bresnahan,Jr., that he
get a variance to construct a single family residence on the fol-
lowing described property: Lot 4, Block D, Highland Shores Section
2, as shown in Map Book 9, page 64 of the Public Records of Volusia
County, Florida.,
Mrs. Murphy explained this situation to the board members, stating
the he is conforming with all of the setback lines, however his lot
size is just too small.
The board members discussed this and there was still some confusion
about Section 400.01 of the Ordinance.
It was suggested that a letter be written to the Council asking for
some clarification of this Section and to also inform the Council
that New Smyrna had to amend this in their Ordinance.
The members were told to go out and do their investigating of this
property.

The second matter for discussion ~ Gene Harris requests a variance
to construct a one single family residence on each numbered parcel.
The legal description of theproperty is a portion of Lots 4 and 5,
Block 3, Riveredge Acres, consisting of six numbered parcels, being
numbered as follows: 2,4,5,6,7 and 8, as depicted on survey plats.
Mr. Harris explained to the board that all he is asking for really
is 15 foot depth variance. He had already built two houses in this
area before the rezoning took place and this is why we can not change
it. He said that the three lots on the north side, and he is going
to let Mr. and Mrs. Murphy have a few feet on the back of his and he
is going to make two big lots out of the rest. He said that he is
really only asking for the two lots on the south.(Lots ~ and 7)
The board members discussed this with Mr. Harris.
Both of these items will come up at the Public Hearing September 29th.
Mrs. Murphy read a letter of resignation from Mrs. Woodard from the
Board of Adjustments, in order to run for election.

Mrs. Woodard made a motion to adjourn being seconded by Mrs. Nichols.
