APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mrs. Nichols made a motion to accept the minutes being seconded
by Mrs. Murphy. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.
OLD BUSINESS
Mrs. Woodard read the case to be heard at this Public Hearing:
Eugene W. Barnes is asking for a variance in the required set-
backs on Lot 15, and all the remaining portions of Lot 16, and
17 east of State Highway #1, all being in Block 11, Totem Park
in the City of Edgewater, Florida.
This request is being made so an addition can be constructed to
an existing building for another store and an apartment.
Mr. Barnes explained to the board members that all he wants is
a variance so that he can line the new building up with the
existing building. He stated that if he has to go back according
to the present setback requirements this is not going to look
very nice.
There was an abutting property owner present, and he stated that
he has no objections to this addition being made.
Mrs. Murphy stated that the only question the board had at the
workshop was about the parking.
Mrs. Nichols stated that this is not really a problem for our
board to consider, this will be for the Planning Board, all we
can handle is the variance for the setback.
There was some confusion as to whether the parking spaces are
the concern of the Board of Adjustments, or whether this should
have been taken care of before this was referred to the board.
Mrs. Nichols made a motion that we grant the variance to allow
Mr. Barnes to line up with the existing building as per the
drawings submitted.
There being no second, Chairwoman Woodard stepped down from the
chair and seconded the motion so to have a vote. Upon roll call
vote said motion DIED, Mrs. Murphy voting NO.

Mrs. Murphy stated that she would like to make a motion that
providing the parking is adequate and conforms with the zoning
requirements we pass his request for the variance.
Mr. Barnes and Mr. Chaney stated that the architect told them
that he has sufficient parking and they fe~t there was no problem
in regards to that.
Mrs. Nichols stated that she thinks that we are just concerning
ourselves here with things that are just no concern of ours,
however this is no concern of the gentlemen here, and she stated
that she would second the motion. Upon roll call vote said motion
CARRIED.
Chai~woman Woodard explained to Mr. Barnes that this decision will
go before the Council at their meeting on June 26, and after that
they can call City Hall to see if this was accepted.
IlBJOURNMENT:
Mrs. Nichols made a motion to adjourn this Public Hearing, being
seconded by Mrs. Murphy. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.
Mrs. Woodard stated that the next Workshop meeting will be held
the first Monday in July and there will not be a Public Hearing
in the month of July unless something comes up before the end
of this week so that it can be advertised for the first Monday
in July.
