OLD BUSINESS
Mrs. Woodard spoke to the board about Section E in the Zoning
Ordinance. She stated that the way it is now Mr. Weaver has
been instructed to just change the word "repeal" to "ratify"
which wi:l still mean that the Council will have the final
authority. Mrs. Woodard stated that all the other City's
Board of Adjustments have the full authority, and she feels
that this board should be given the same consideration, and
that we should have the last say so. She stated that she
feels that we are all responsible and we will stand for what
we do. She stated that she vould like some instruction from
the board tonight so that she can get a letter off to the
Council before their meeting this coming Thursday.
Mrs. Woodard also stated that she doesn't feel that it is
right to shuffle the public around like is being done.
There was much discussion about this, and the board members
gave their opinions.
Mrs. Woodard stated that Rhe wants the full authority, she is
going to leave it up to the board, and if the board is for it
and the Council gives us any trouble she is taking it to the
State. However if the board does not want this she will write
a letter to this effect.
Mrs. Murphy stated that if we get this autonomy, we will be in
a judicial capacity, we will not change a law, we are taking
individual cases and deciding whether there is a hardship.
Mrs. Nichols stated that it is her opinion that this is a new
board, and you don't get all wise all at once and she feels
that a little experience would help before we get this authority.
