06-08-1983 - Special u v --'- -r CITY COUNCIL OF EDGEWATER SPECIAL MEETING J UN E 8, 1 983 MINUTES Mayor David Ledbetter called the Special Meeting of Council to order at 4:00 P.M. in the Community Center. ROLL CALL Mayor David Ledbetter Councilwoman Gigi Bennington Councilman Neil Asting Councilman Jack Spencer Present Present Present Present City Attorney Josel Alvarez City Clerk Nancy Blazi Deputy City Clerk Susan Wadsworth Police Chief Earl Baugh Present Excused Present Present The purpose of the meeting was to count absentee ballots and to accept the elecHon 'returns of the Primary Election held June 7, 1983. Mrs. Elsie Ward and Mr. Robert Matetich were poll workers present from precincts 24 and 24A. Mayor David Ledbetter read the total votes from precinct 24. Mr. Paul Biggerstaff had 205; Mr. Jacob Lodico had 93; Mr. William Muller had 32; and Mr. Melbourne Wargo had 177. Deputy City Clerk Susan Wadsworth confirmed these totals. Mayor David Ledbetter read the total votes from precinct 24A. Mr. Paul Biggerstaff had 178; Mr. Jacob Lodico had 88; Mr. Bill Muller had 13; and Mr. Melbourne Wargo had 171. Deputy City Clerk Susan Wadsworth confirmed these totals. Deputy City Clerk Susan Wadsworth stated all absentee ballots were in by 7:00PM on June 7th, and there were a total of 40 legal ballots. The absentee ballots were opened by Mrs. Ward and Mr. Matetich while Council had a short recess. Mayor Ledbetter called the meeting back to order. Mr. Matetich read the absentee votes and confirmed it totalled 40. Mrs. Ward read the absentee votes. Mr. Matetich verified that Mr. Biggerstaff got 17 votes, Mr. Wargo got 12 votes, Mr. Lodico got 8 votes, and Mr. Muller got 3 votes, for a total of 40. Deputy City Clerk Susan Wadsworth stated the total votes received by Mr. Biggerstaff was 400; total for Mr. Lodico was 189; total for Mr. Muller was 48; and total for Mr. Wargo was 360. City Attorney Alvarez read Resolution No. 83-R-49. A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL PRIMARY ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, ON JUNE 7, 1983; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. He read the election totals for each candidate in Section 1 and the names of the candidates for the General Election as Paul Biggerstaff and Melbourne Wargo in Section 2 of the Resolution. Councilman Asting moved to adopt the Resolution. Councilman Spencer seconded the motion. Motion CARRIED 4-0. Councilman Asting moved to Meeting was adjourned. adjourn the meeting.
