() '-'<- . , u CITY OF EDGEWATER CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 5, 1980 Mayor Christy called the Special Meeting to order at 4:00 P.M. in the Edgewater Community Center for the purpose of canvassing the votes of the General Election held on November 4, 1980 and also for counting the absentee' votes for the General Election. ROLL CALL Mayor Robert H. Christy Councilman Louis Rotundo Councilman David Ledbetter Councilman James Cameron Councilman Neil Asting City Attorney Judson Woods City Clerk Nancy Blazi Police Chief Earl Baugh Present Present Present Absent Absent Present Present Present Also Presen t ~) Robert Lee Matetich Sr. - Clerk of the Elections (Edgewater) Members of the Edgewater Election Board Mr. Robert Lee Matetich read the total of the votes cast for each position. He also read the total of votes cast for each question. The absentee~_ ballots were given to the Election Clerk and the Election Board. The absentee~ ballots were opened and counted by the Election Clerk and the Election Board. The City Attorney read Resolution No. 80-R-188. A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD IN EDGEWATER, FLORIDA ON NOVEMBER 4, 1980; DECLARING THE WINNERS FOR THE COUNCIL SEATS FOR ZONE 2 AND ZONE 4 OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Councilman Rotundo made a motion to adop~_ Resolution 80-R-188. Councilman Ledbetter made the second. Upon roll call on the motion CARRIED 3-0. The City Attorney read Resolution No. 80-R-189. A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A GENERAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA ON NOVEMBER 4, 1980 FOR THE PURPOSE OF APPROVING 3 QUESTIONS COVERING CHARTER AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; PROVIDING THAT THE QUESTIONS SO APPROVED SHALL BE INCORPORATED INTO THE EDGEWATER CITY CHARTER; PROVIDING FOR FILING THE REVISED CHARTER AMENDMENTS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Councilman Ledbetter made a motion to adopt Resolution 80-R-189. Councilman Rotundo made the second. Upon roll call on the motion CARRIED 3-0. ~~~ge 2 ~ Special Council Meeting November 5, 1980 (.) Mayor Christy stated that the first thing in the morning a copy of this should go to the State. Mayor Christy stated that since there is no other business. Mr. Lodico was asked to come up front state his name and address and question. Mr. Lodico asked the City Attorney that the intent several months ago was to have an election on five people. The question has come up again are we going to vote for five new people. Mayor Christy stated that this is what the people voted for. City Attorney Woods stated that the intent was for four council seats and Mayor. Mr. Millard was asked to come up front. Mr. Millard stated that he lived on Riverside Drive. He asked if he could be put on the agenda Monday night to talk to the Council on this. Mr. Millard or a representive of the C.E.R will be put on the agenda to address the Council to speak on these amendments. Councilman Rotundo made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Ledbetter second.
