The purpose of the workshop was to further discuss applications
received for membership on the Code Enforcement Board.
A prolonged discussion regarding the individual applicants for
membership to the Code Enforcement Board was had. During said
discussion, the City Attorney stressed that the ordinance
governing the board requires that any member of the board must
have been an Edgewater resident for ~t least one year and must
be a property owner.
After some review of the ordinance there was group discussion
regarding who would enforce any rulings of this board. The City
Attorney clarified with the explanation that any actual enforcer
would have to be appointed by resolution. However, he pointed
out that collection of any fines levied by the board would be
done by the City Attorney upon express direction of the City
Council.
The individual resumes were reviewed and Mayor Christy indicated
that he felt the council needed more applicants to choose from
and that he was not ready to make any recommendation at this time.
The general consensus was in agreement. It was agreed that for
the next two weeks the council would check the references of
the present applicants, solicit further membership applications
and take the matter up at the next regular City Council meeting
with no further workshops.
Councilman Wilbur made a motion to adjourn. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Pendleton. The meeting was adjourned.
