04-09-1981 - Workshop ~ q CITY OF EDGEWATER CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP April 9, 1981 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Robert H. Christy called the workshop of the City Council of the City of Edgewater to order at 2:05 p.m. in the conference room. ROLL CALL Mayor Robert H. Christy Councilman Jacob Lodico Councilman David C. Blazi Police Chief Earl Baugh Present Absent Excused Present Present Excused Present Present The purpose of the workshop was to discuss the following: FIRE DEPARTMENT AND RESCUE INSURANCE A general discussion was had regarding the purchase of insurance for fire and rescue volunteers. It was pointed out that there was some overlap of benefits on policies now held. City Clerk Nancy Blazi reported that she is researching the matter; that she is still awaiting responses to inquiries and will make further inquiries per suggestions made at the workshop. It was suggested that a status letter regarding the insurance situa- tion be submitted to Gail Harmon of EVER and Fire Chief David Severance. CIVIL DEFENSE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN A general discussion occurred regarding the status of the Edgewater Emergency Operations Plan. Several vacancies exist including Deputy Coordinator. Police Chief Baugh introduced Mr. Chase and recommended that he be considered to fill the vacancy of Deputy Coordinator although he is not a resident of Edgewater. After further discussion regarding the interaction of state, county and local civil defense officials/operations, it was suggested that the City Clerk place a notice in the newspaper soliciting interested people to fill vacant civil defense slots. These names will be turned over to Police Chief Baugh who would then make recommendations to the City Council on filling the vacancies by resolution.
