The purpose of the workshop was to discuss the following:
FIRE DEPARTMENT AND RESCUE INSURANCE
A general discussion was had regarding the purchase of insurance for
fire and rescue volunteers. It was pointed out that there was some
overlap of benefits on policies now held. City Clerk Nancy Blazi
reported that she is researching the matter; that she is still
awaiting responses to inquiries and will make further inquiries per
suggestions made at the workshop.
It was suggested that a status letter regarding the insurance situa-
tion be submitted to Gail Harmon of EVER and Fire Chief David Severance.
CIVIL DEFENSE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN
A general discussion occurred regarding the status of the Edgewater
Emergency Operations Plan. Several vacancies exist including Deputy
Coordinator.
Police Chief Baugh introduced Mr. Chase and recommended that he be
considered to fill the vacancy of Deputy Coordinator although he is
not a resident of Edgewater.
After further discussion regarding the interaction of state, county
and local civil defense officials/operations, it was suggested that
the City Clerk place a notice in the newspaper soliciting interested
people to fill vacant civil defense slots. These names will be turned
over to Police Chief Baugh who would then make recommendations to
the City Council on filling the vacancies by resolution.
