NOVEMBER 9, 2000 6:30 PM
EDGEWATER CITY HALL CONFERENCE ROOM
MINUTES
ROLL CALL/CALL TO ORDER
The Chairman, Tom Tipton called the meeting to order. Those present were: Tom
Tipton, Glen Murphey, Jo Hagan and Diane Trout. Also present was Jack Corder,
Director of Parks and RecreationlMaintenance and Adelaide Carter, liaison of the
Economic Development Board.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Murphey moved to approve the minutes of the October 12, 2000 meeting and Mrs.
Trout seconded. Motion CARRIED 4-0.
OLD BUSINESS
Update on YMCA
Mr. Corder stated tomorrow was slated for the final inspection for the YMCA and it
should be open the following Tuesday or Wednesday. He announced that November 16th
at 5:30 PM was the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and all the Board was invited to attend.
He said there will be a Grand Opening Ceremony sometime in December. Mr. Tipton
asked the status of the paving of the Turgot road and Mr. Corder stated it won't be fully
completed, but should be open to traffic.
NEW BUSINESS
Beautification Ad Hoc Committee Report
Mike Visconti was absent and therefore no report was available. Mrs. Hagan asked on
the status of the beautification plans that were approved for Whistle Stop Park some
months ago. Mr. Corder stated those plans will be incorporated in this new budget year
after his department plays a little "catch up". Mrs. Hagan also said she has gotten several
comments from Edgewater Landing residents on how wonderful the medians on U.S. 1
look and to convey their thanks to the Parks & Recreation Department for all their hard
work. Mr. Corder stated the plans are in design right now for the permitting for the new
medians to be done in this year's budget, which will be the 2 medians north of Park
Avenue and the 2 medians north of Turgot Avenue.

Beautification Award for a Business
The winner for the business award for this quarter was chosen unanimously to be Little
Explorers Day Care Center. The Board members were asked for their choices on a Zone
3 residence, to be voted on for December.
Some questions came up on the zone map for the beautification awards and it was agreed
that a few minor adjustments needed to be made for a few streets. Mr. Corder agreed to
rework the map and bring it to the next meeting for approval by the Board.
Historical Ad Hoc Committee Report
Mr. Tanksley was absent and therefore no historical report was given.
MISCELLANEOUS
Haunted Hollow Hayride
Mrs. Hagan stated she helped out with the Haunted Hollow Hayride for Halloween and it
was phenomenal and Christi, the Program Coordinator did a fantastic job. Mr. Tipton said
he was there also, and the turnout was great. Mr. Corder said indeed that his staff did a
great job and he was totally tied up with the YMCA and just put this project in their
hands and let them run the show. He noted the proceeds were divided among the
organizations involved.
Upcoming Christmas Parade
Mr. Corder stated this year's Christmas Parade will be held on December 9th at lOAM.
As usual, he stated he will need all the volunteers he can get. The parade will line up at
the old landfill site on Air Park Road and continue down Indian River Boulevard to
Winn-Dixie where the parade ends. After the parade, at 2:30 PM at Rotary Park will be
the Holiday Concert and Christmas Tree Decorating Contest with cash prizes.

There being no further business, Mr. Murphey moved to adjourn, seconded by Mrs.
Trout.
