2016-R-35 EMERGENCY RESOLUTION NO.2016-R-35 AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, CONFIRMING A DECLARATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,FLORIDA. WHEREAS, a State of Emergency in the State of Florida was proclaimed by GOVERNOR RICK SCOTT on OCTOBER 4,2016 due to HURRICANE MATTHEW; and WHEREAS, a Federal Emergency Declaration was proclaimed by PRESIDENT BARRACK OBAMA on OCTOBER 6,2016 due to HURRICANE MATTHEW; and • WHEREAS, Edgewater citizens must be moved from harm's way; and WHEREAS, Chapter 8 of the City of Edgewater Code of Ordinances authorizes the activation of plans to safe guard the community during a state of emergency. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. A confirmation that GOVERNOR RICK SCOTT declared a State of Emergency for the STATE OF FLORIDA, which includes the City of Edgewater, was proclaimed on OCTOBER 4,2016 is hereby confirmed. Section 2. A confirmation that PRESIDENT BARRACK OBAMA signed a federal emergency declaration for the STATE OF FLORIDA, which includes the City of Edgewater, was proclaimed on OCTOBER 6,2016 is hereby confirmed. Section 3. HURRICANE MATTHEW has seriously affected and threatened the lives and property of residents of the City of Edgewater that requires emergency actions that protect the lives and property of citizens effective 5:00 PM Friday, 7th day of October 2016. Section 4. HURRICANE MATTHEW has seriously affected and created conditions which threaten the safety and security of the lives and property of the citizens of Edgewater and thereby requires the establishment of a curfew between the hours of 12:00 AM and 7:00 AM daily. Section 5. Such curfew shall remain in effect until competent authority declares it is safe to terminate such curfew. Section 6. This resolution shall take effect at the date and time specified in Section .3 PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 7`h day of OCTOBER. 2016. Aid !
