2016-R-36 EMERGENCY RESOLUTION NO. 2016-R-36
AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, CONFIRMING A
DECLARATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, a State of Emergency in the State of Florida was proclaimed by GOVERNOR
RICK SCOTT on OCTOBER 4, 2016 due to HURRICANE MATTHEW; and
WHEREAS, a Federal Emergency Declaration was proclaimed by PRESIDENT BARRACK
OBAMA on OCTOBER 6,2016 due to HURRICANE MATTHEW; and
WHEREAS, on 7th October 2016, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2016-R-35 which
placed a curfew between the hours of 12:00 AM and 7:00 AM daily and effective until it is declared
safe to terminate such curfew; and
WHEREAS, the majority of the City has had electricity restored, residents have returned home
and the roads have been opened for traffic; and
WHEREAS, the Police Chief has deemed it safe and recommends that the curfew be
rescinded.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The threat of HURRICANE MATTHEW has passed and most residents have
returned home to safe guard their property. Daily police operations have returned to normal and the
conditions requiring the need for a curfew no longer exist.
Section 2. The curfew as enacted on 7th October 2016, with Resolution 2016-R-35 shall be
rescinded.
Section 5. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
