MINUTES
ROLL CALL/CALL TO ORDER
The Chairman, Tom Tipton called the meeting to order. Members present were: Tom
Tipton, Mike Visconti, Kat Bearsley, Diane Trout and Jo Hagan. Also present was Jack
Corder, Director of Parks and Recreation, Adelaide Carter, liaison of the Economic
Development Board, Jean Morgan from the press and Mrs. Mike Visconti.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mrs. Trout moved to approve the minutes of the November 8th meeting and Mrs. Hagan
seconded the motion. Motion CARRIED 5-0.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Visconti asked the status of the letter and pictures from the video they wanted to give
to the Council, regarding the poor work done by D.O.T on the medians. Mr. Corder
stated he had not been given the video yet and had not received the letter. The Board
agreed this was very important to get this to Council as soon as possible, as the condition
of the medians needs to be addressed and they would like for Council to ask D.O.T. why
there is a double standard when it comes to the medians and why they are allowed to do
such shoddy work when the City is required to meet the highest standards where median
beautification is concerned. The Board agreed to get this letter and pictures to Council at
the January ih or 28th meeting.
Mr. Visconti also asked about the trash receptacles that were to be placed by the benches
in conjunction with the litter campaign. Mr. Corder stated they were in right now, but he
has hesitated to put them out until the D.O.T. is done working on U.S. I
Everyone on the Board agreed the seasonal banners put up for the holiday season look
really good and hopefully next year more can be purchased. Mr. Corder stated the tree is
up and lighted at the Fire Dept. and there wasn't a place for the second tree that had
available electric service, so that tree will be saved in ground for next year.
NEW BUSINESS
Beautification Award
The beautifcation award this month was given to a business. The winning business was
the Edgewater Cemetery, which the Board all agreed has done a lot in the past months to

they will be going out for bids soon.
Mr. Corder said the beautification project on the medians at Turgot and Park Avenue will
pick up pace next week and he hopes to have them all done by the end of January.
He noted he is still working on the paperwork for the Echo grant, in hopes of obtaining
funds for the cultural center at the new property on Turgot.
Mr. Tipton thanked Mr. Corder and his department for another successful Christmas
Parade. The Board agreed it gets bigger and better every year.
